That was kind of unkind, Eva. It's a nice avatar, but I always thought Intrepid would look lots meaner.

You think you have had your head snapped off. You are wise to stay away from the relious and political forums. Laughing

Oh yeah, I go nowhere near those forums. Never have, and probably never will. I abhor confrontation.

My new avatar? Well, you inspired me to use me for the avatar. Not sure if I will keep it as a comic book character may be more appropriate. Time will tell.

Have a great evening!

Well, it's nice to hear that I inspired somebody. Kinda like a role model, eh? Laughing

Well, I like it and will replace when I get a chance.

I hope you will still be around for a while.

If you are not already an avid picture taker, my advice would be: don't spend a lot of money. Get an inexpensive camera and see how enthusiastic you are at taking pictures with it. After about a year or so, you will have your answer. By then you will have gained enough experience and knowledge to purchase a pricier digital camera that will be suited to your needs.

I used to really enjoy taking pictures, and now with the advent of digital cameras, I want to take it up as a hobby again. Plus, with being retired soon, I need something to get me out and around.

Years ago, I used to develop my own black and white films and print them. That's a million years ago, but it has stayed with me. I really like this digital stuff and enjoy fooling around with the editing program that I have. I am serious about it and know I will get back in the groove.

Yeah, I guess everybody's got their routine. I'm getting so I'm counting down the days until the end of the year. My job is a real drag.

I hope you're okay health-wise.

I'll take your word on the other matter and won't close it for now. Wait and see.

I'm pleasantly surprised of the folks who have had that reaction. Unexpected, but thanks.

I-i-i-i-s that you, Intrepid?

(Whew!)

I thought it was Dick Cheney. An early Halloween trick, you know.

Aw, and they said you were one of the nicer ones here. Cool

I AM! I AM!!

Cheney looks perfectly nice when stops smirking and actually smiles, like in your picture. It's only when the VP starts talking that you realize how nasty he is.

I think you look very nice, Intrepid.

Now, don't spoil it by saying something nasty, okay? Or I'll have to start calling you "Dick." Laughing

For those interested in photos of my various distant relatives on my father's side, click HERE. Then, click on Gallery. You can click on the pics to get a larger view.

My wife and I are there, along with our 2 daughters, my parents, and my sister. I'll let you figure out who's who, as permission was only given to this site to view.

This site was put together by one of my Dutch cousins for genealogy purposes.

I believe you :-)

No explanation necessary. No need to compliment, I forgive you. :-)

Your last comment is extremely funny given my real first name. No, it is not Dick.

Enjoy the day.

Yeah, he looks somewhat like my grandfather. There's a story to tell. I think I've already told it somewhere.

You and me both, bro.

They used to put things into both Dutch and English when the site started and I was around all the time.

I've been remiss.

Here's a photo of my father and I taken in 1975. At the time, our family was renting a small house over-looking the ocean just south of Powell River, which is on the "Sunshine Coast" of BC. Nice place. I once saw a killer whale swim past, and it wasn't unusual to see bald eagles flying about.

My dad died in 1991 at the age of 69. Too bloody young.

One of my fondest memories of him was when he taught me how to play chess when I was about 9 years old. I never did beat him.

I sure miss him....

Here's a favourite picture of mine take mid-'70s. That was such a cool leather jacket. Smile

I look back at this photo taken in 1973 and I'm wearing green. Shocked Don't know what ever possessed me to do that. These days I wouldn't be caught dead in that colour. I'm more into blues.

Looks like I need a haircut, too! Longest I've ever had my hair.

The others in this pic are my dad, my niece and nephew, and my first wife.

We were only married a couple of years ('72-'74). I was sad for a long time after we got divorced. We were just too young, I guess.

Thanks for the invite Reyn, mine's a Maxwell House!

It's a little late here in Paddyland & I can hear my bed whispering, nay, shouting at me to log off. No, actually, it's my wife!

It's after 3am on this side of the pond - better get some shut-eye.

I'll look forward to browsing this thread over the coming days.

Thankfully no work tomorrow. Hurrah for halloween!
