Do you hate your jobs so much that you hate to get up in the morning?

It's worse than that. I know in advance every day what route (I'm an E&G meter reader) I will be doing next. So, I always know what kind of day I'm going to have and what kind of problems will surface.

BUT, I soldier on, getting through it day by day. It's been tough this year, because I know the end is near.

I wake up and say to my wife, "I'm retired and I don't have to go back to that job, right dear? Right?" Rolling Eyes

I love my job, except - I am 63 and they want to run me like I was a boy. It can get tough.

Reyn, speaking of genealogy, out of the blue less than an hour ago, my first cousin, whom I had never even heard of, calls me from Irving, TX. Among other things, he settled the mystery of my father. He was murdered for his car in 1948 and buried as a John Doe in Modesto, California. A friend or relative of the family saw a news article and sent it to his father, who then identified him from a photo.
So at least I know, after 60 years.

Wow, that's an incredible story, Edgar! Isn't it amazing how things work out sometimes? How do you feel about this? Does it at least give you some closure? I know you mentioned previously that you were astranged from your father, but at least you now have the missing pieces to the puzzle.

I felt the same way about my father's family when I finally found out what was what. After that, I discontinued my genealogical research. I had found out what I wanted to know. For my wife it is different for her, as it is an active hobby.

With my job, too, it is tough. Meter reading is a young man's job, but of course, I'm 54, not 63, so I can only imagine how you feel. Sad

Great pics, Reyn.

The connection with my cousin opens a whole new list of relatives to interact with. Hope they don't expect birthday cards and Christmas gifts. He he.

That's what I said to my new-found cousins in Holland after the reseach was done...haha! I'm terrible at keeping in contact, too.

Djjd, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember you with that same avatar taking a picture in a mirror?

Hi Reyn from Diane who always seems to be catching up. Your thread has become a real keeper. The people, the relaxed chat and interesting stories about family including pets, makes for a lovely evening with friends.

Edgar, my uncle was murdered while driving a cab. My family was so concerned about 'reputation' that I didn't hear about it for years. He was also involved with some gangsters in Denver. When I was older, my aunt told me about him; he was her favorite brother.

Great pics of your ditties, Reyn.

Well, my Dad was thirty three. I knew he was either murdered or else had a disease, just needed to know which. He was an alcoholic, a thief, and a mean sob, so I always figured he was up to no good at the time.

Well, thank you! It seems to be coming along okay. I'm just letting it go the way it wants to go. Fine by me. Everybody has a story or two to tell!

Wow, that is quite the story, Diane. So sad.

It is speculated by relatives that my grandfather murdered his 1st wife. I touched on that a little elsewhere. She was found in a Dutch canal supposedly dead by her own had, but others in the family have their suspicions.

My grandfather went on to marry 3 more times after that. Had a child out of wedlock during his 1st marriage, too. Now, I understand why my father became asranged from his immediate family. He was raised by an uncle and aunt.

At least now you know.

My grandmother, of whom I speak of in the above post, died in 1928 at 32 years of age. She was either murdered by her husband by drowning her in the canal, or he drove her to it by his extra-marital hanky panky. Mad
