Strange - my husband committed suicide in April...

I sorry to hear this sad news, too, Clary. Although I've had no family members do the same, we had a colleague at work do so some years back. We were all so devasted for quite some time.

I hope you have managed to come through this emotional turmoil in a good way.

<hugs Clary>

Suicide Is Painless

Through early moring fog I see
Vision's of the things to be
The pains that are with held for me
I realise and I can see

*That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The game of life is hard to play
Gonna to lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say

But she did write in her own words this

Quote:
Not wanting to live does not IMHO mean a person is suicidal. Sometimes not wanting to live is just a normal reaction to a life more painful than death.

Yes it is indeed a powerful statement djjd, I just cannot
agree with it.

djjd, I hope your avatar and location are not an indication
of a mental state you're in.

it is a powerful statement--and I think people have the right to make that choice in many cases--but how can we say not wanting to live isn't suicidal?

I always thought that Suicide Song was odd for the M*A*S*H* theme song. But, I liked it.

no negativland is a gret band from san francisco, and the quote is from a boomtown rats song called having my picture taken, it all just fits together to make a nice pattern

plus i look great in blue Smile

but i still agree with joannes statement, i think that suicide is definetly a last resort but in some cases having that kind of control over situations you have no other control over is all the power you have

Okay, I am relieved to hear that djjd (about just looking
great in blue, and not feeling blue). Wink

I can't agree with Joanne's statement, because no matter
how desperate one is today, no matter how useless life
seems today - tomorrow is always a new day.

Clarification: Moving on to other, lighter topics in view of JoanneDorel's choice seems a bit callous. I just wanted to say I don't know what caused JD to believe that was her best choice. I wish she'd sought and recieved support that could have given her a different option. In the absence of that, I support her choice, and will think of her fondly, and will give her the benefit of the doubt that she knew herself better than anyone else.

I find it a little unsettling that her husband has not revisited the thread.
