Farewell, JoanneDorel. Thanks for what you brought us.

This is David, Joanne's husband. It is with sadness that she left instructions that I should notify all of you of her death. She took her own life last night and wanted me to send her regrets, "about missing yet another get together." Joanne also said not to worry she, "[was] with Cav and Mary Pope now."

David

There is no way such a post could be hoax or prank.

Apparently this actually has happened.

This has got to be one of the most devastating messages I've ever received in one of these forums.

I don't know what to say…or how to say it.

Oh, no, I am so sorry, David. And Joanne... poor sweet smart Joanne.

Thank you for telling us, we get to be sort of a family here.

David--

I am so sorry for you. Joanne was such a wonderful, vibrant person and I was looking forward to meeting her face to face in NYC.

Hold your dominion.

So sorry to hear that David, and so sorry there's no way words on a monitor can ease your grief or lessen your loss. Please know you and yours have the support and sympathy of all here.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne,
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld ang syne.

We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne.
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet, A
For auld lang syne.

I'm so fortunate to have been touched by her; though I'll miss Joanne ("Hey there - its JD from Big D") terribly, having had the opportunity to know her is something to celebrate. I'm all the richer for what she brought me, as are we all.

Utter shock.

I'm sure that we are the least of your worries at the moment, but David, can you give us any context?

This is such sad & shocking news.
Thank you so very much for telling us, David. My heart goes out to you. I wish you the strength to cope in these terrible circumstances.
I was very touched by Joanne's message & also that she asked you to let us know. Obviously A2K meant a great deal to her. She will be sadly missed by many of us here.
I'm so shocked I don't know what else to say.

Oh David, I am so sorry. Joanne was such a great gal. She must have been in terrible distress to take her own life. At least you can be comforted in the fact that she is at peace now. We will all miss her.

Joanne was one of my first real online friends. I knew she suffered terribly, but had no notion she could be suicidal. I only hope she has found the peace that eluded her in life.
