Given the tone many on this thread are using re this issue, it seems it would be infinitely easy to dispatch other opinions.

There should be a tight argument why it is impossible-- for so many of you to have such an attitude about it.

If it's such a simple case, convince me.

Refute this with facts. That would be a start.

Here we go again.

It's odd that I can defeat five or six of you at once in argument, and you're reduced to getting personal to try to prevail.

I had a thread about the last round of UN inspections in the Politics section, where some actual progress could probably have been made on this issue, and which was not very conducive to emotional arguments, but it didn't arouse much interest.

You're talking about this thread?

Well, I've been posting something there, but as nobody posted afterwards - including you - I thought that it was not really worth the effort. It could be an interesting thread. Not that people would all of a sudden change their opinions, but maybe it would be possible to compile some of the known facts in order to reevaluate our opinions.

But then, maybe not...

Are you saying that 62% of Republicans polled by Gallup ar eno longer chuckleheads (ie the poll is old and superseded by more rational beliefs) or that there was no such poll with such a result, Fishin'?

I'm saying it's old news. The blog entry that was originally linked was from back in Oct 2004. (Click on "the Source" link and look at the date in the URL). Seems silly that there are 3 pages of ranting about year old news.

If the opinions have not changed, it is worth comment, I believe.

I do not think such ignorance in an electorate of such a powerful country is harmless.

I doubt it becomes more harmless with time.

Just as I think persistent ignorance in other countries (eg that the US is the devil incarnate and responsible for all Islam's woes) is not harmless.

Do you think any level of stupidity and ignorance in serious matters, in the midst of better information, is ever worth severe comment?

The 62% have good reason to believe SH was in some manner of cahoots with OBL.

Facts are in their favor.

Actually, when I'm the one reading the 911 report and adjusting my opinion to those facts, you are the one who is willfully ignorant.

Why continue to ignore the facts?

"Severe comment"??? Is that what you call members here throwing insults back and forth at each other? lol

Being stupid and ignorant over some stupidity and ignorance that was found by a poll over a year ago doesn't seem to be very productive to me.
