It appears you and I aren't interested in the same discussion.
It happens.

C'Mon.
There has to be someone who can speak to this.

The Palestinians had a bunch of people with different a religion smacked down in the middle of them- so did the Irish.
The Palestinians were there first- so were the Irish.
The Palestinians are outgunned- so are the Irish.
The Palestinians have fought with rocks and sticks, and some bombs, since their oppression began- so have the Irish.
The Palestinians' leaders are considered terrorists- so are the Irish's.
The Palestinians have no real representative political voice in their lives- neither do the Irish
.

How can one support the Pals and not the IRA? They are incredibly similar.

Yes -- I like it! Could that ever happen?

The Palestinian problem cannot be so easily solved, especially since hoards of new people seem to be flooding into Israel. I read a very upsetting article in World Press Review about the demands made on black immigrants. Israel disappoints me in many ways, meanwhile the original Palestinians continue to be screwed. I don't like any government that exists based on a limited version of "What God Wants."

Women in Black, a group I'm part of, started in Israel to protest the treatment of Palestinians.

edit -- LOL Sofia. I agree with your premise. There are, to me, many similarities. Of course, that just points out some of the differences.

Thanks, Piffka!

It is hard for me to understand some people, who support the Pals, yet condemn the IRA. They look like twins to me. There were some (IMO)reasonable people, who responded to the thread earlier.

I guess I'm seeking a discussion with people who judge the two groups differently.

Props to you for your work in civil rights in Israel.

I support Individual Retirement Accounts--in fact, i just started a new one this year . . . a Roth IRA, after tax money . . . i've gotten into municipal bonds, 'cause i consider Palestinian investments to be too risky . . .

There is one serious difference between PLO and IRA. IRA does not have an aim to eliminate UK from the world map. PLO/Hamas/ Islamic Jihad do (regarding Israel).

This Jew honeymooned in Ireland with his mixed race Catholic/Muslim wife, so f- all ya'll. I might also add that the Palestinians never had claim to any land in the middle east, they were nomadic, and none of their Arab brethren took them in. The establishment of Israel gave them a cause which they have been exploiting ever since. Sorry folks, no sympathy for the PLO here, or the IRA for that matter, and Craven, you cannot possibly understand the present or the future without understanding history.

I have been supporting the Palestinians, and putting into our Individual Retirement Account (IRA) from very early on in our marriage. c.i.
