Did you actually read what you wrote before you posted it? Anything that God does is Godly. He is God. Who else but God could do Godly things? Laughing
Shocked

But a god is not necessary God...and the god of the Bible is definitely a small "g" god...and is anything but Godly.

In fact...the god of the Bible...is godly!

FrankApisa Question

Anyways, good point there Intrepid...it would be sort of hard to be God and not be Godly.

But as I pointed out...it is not too hard to be a god...and not be Godly.

Twisted Evil

.........Comparatively speaking, the bible god is "evil." Killing innocent people is not godly at all.

My reply......When did you become so knowledgable that you can make such a determination of who is innocent or that killing is evil? You'd have to be all knowing to know what lay in a person's heart. If you had the power to raise from the dead then wouldn't death be a moot point? We argue about that here all the time. Is capital punishment right? Is abortion right? Is euthanasia right? Is killing necessarily bad? A lot of folks here might disagree. As for me I have to ask who's better to make that determination than God?

Do you see bad things happening as a form of condemnation from God?

aurorell, Read the bible; you might learn something about the jealous, vengeful, killer god of the bible. If you can, show us where the bible tells of a loving god.

"God so loved the world...." is a ridiculous verse. Who was jesus sacrificed for? To appease himself? That can only garner laughter.

It doesn't receive any laughter from believers. Your type of thinking means that I can laugh at you and mock you for any ideas which you may have. If a person believes Jesus died for them, why laugh about it? why does it bother you so much?

An idea. That's all your belief is Sturgis.

They aren't true stories.

How can you take a book that has been rewritten and changed so many times literally?

They're no more true than any other fairy tale or folk story.

The concept of supposing that a god is showing love for humanity by requiring humans to torture and kill its "son"...IS ABSURD.

It should be ridiculed by anyone with a brain...because it is ridiculous.

The last thing in the world the god of the Bible is...

...is loving of humanity.

It is a pathetic, murderous, barbaric god.

That is why there are so many people who are in such dread of it.

Tell you what you can do Sturgis. Be like Christ. Go to a country like Saudi Arabia with a band of your followers. Invade one of their mosques like Christ did the Temple. Tell them your doing this because your God and you don't like the way they practice their religion. If your lucky they will execute you. And if your really, really lucky, a couple of hundred years from now, you will have been made into a God and a new religion, Sturgisanity, will have been created.

And God loved man so much he sent his one and only nephew …………….

Sorry Sturgis, you can't be his son, that's been done already. Gonna have to come up with some new relatives.

Xingu,

Please do tell me how many Christians have killed other Chrisitians because of their doctrinal beliefs. I'll even help (Ireland 4000, Inquisition 5000-100,000).

And after you're finished with that, please go on and look at the rest of world history and please tell me how many atheist-professing people have killed other atheist-professing folks because they did not agree with each other (I'll help here too, Hitler's Germany (6,000,000),Stalinist Russia (17,000,000), Cambodia (2,400,000) and Maoist China (40,000,000), just to start).

I'm surprised no one took the time to address the rest of the garbage aside from Hitler's Germany not being anywhere close to atheist. Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao didn't kill people in the name of atheism nor did they kill other atheists because of some imagined misrepresentation of what atheism is (unlike theists).

vengeful...cite some scripture or story that shows "revenge"

Genesis 4:15 - Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If any one slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who came upon him should kill him.

Leviticus 26:25 - And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant; and if you gather within your cities I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Numbers 31:3 - And Moses said to the people, "Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Mid'ian, to execute the LORD's vengeance on Mid'ian.

Psalms 94:1 - O LORD, thou God of vengeance, thou God of vengeance, shine forth!

And on, and on, and on.

Quote:
spiteful....same as above

Nothing on this one.

Quote:
hateful.....what does he hate

Good question. But he apparently does. He hates sin. And despite the fact that he's a loving god, he'll send you to hell for sinning just as quickly as he would take you into heaven.

If you ask. What about the poor bastards that 1) have never heard of christianity or 2) were raised or believe in another religion?

Also, i'm a bit shadey on the whole "ask for forgiveness" bit. We must beg forgiveness for doing something he created? Indulging in whims he gave us? It boggles me.

According to the fairytale...YES.

According to the fairytale...your god has the final say!

Quote:
We know the rules...

Do we????

Even you "believers" cannot agree on the rules! What makes you think people who are skeptics can do any better?

Where do you even get the notion that we "know the rules?"

Quote:
.... we know the consequences...

How do you come up with this stuff? Do you make it up yourself...or do you have help?

If you have help...fire the person...because you ain't getting your money's worth.

You believers cannot even come close to agreeing on "the consequences." What makes you think skeptics can do any better?

How can you possibly assert "...we know the consequences"...no matter who the "we" applies to?
