I believe I may have rescued it - at some embarrassment to myself - from desuetude. I may have to claim salvage rights (just kidding).

Not in 'Merica, by and large . . . certainly many 'Mericans know what it means, it's just not used . . . although it might be used sarcastically--as in "He's very keen on that," to mean stupidly obsessed . . . no reflection on GF, i'm sure he's not obsessed . . .

I still use keen all the time. In fact, I just used it the other day. "I'm keen on knowing just why the hell you keep talking to me like I'm an idiot!". Yep, those were my exact words.

Laughing I use it, too, FreeDuck.
BTW the word "slack" until fairly recently had *other* connotations here. Perhaps we should have a thread about the connotations of the same words in different cultures? Very Happy

Sorry, but I'm still stuck on Stray Cat having said "kick him in the ding dong" several pages back.

Now that's a reference I hadn't heard in ages!

(Now I've got the Dingaling song stuck in my head)

I am delighted to hear freeduck confirm that she is a slacker and a bitch.

I have always wondered if she was a slacker.

My Ding-A-Ling-A-Ling

Lyrics by Chuck Berry

When I was a little biddy boy
My grandma bought me a cute little toy
Two Silver bells on a string
She told me it was my ding-a-ling-a-ling

My Ding-A-Ling My Ding-A-Ling won't you play with My Ding-A-Ling
My Ding-A-Ling My Ding-A-Ling won't you play with My Ding-A-Ling

When I was little boy In Grammar school
Always went by the very best rule
But Evertime the bell would ring
You'd catch me playing with my ding-a-ling

Once while climbing the garden wall,
Slipped and fell had a very bad fall
I fell so hard I heard birds sing,
But I held on to My ding-a-ling

Once while swimming cross turtle creek
Man them snappers right at my feet
Sure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holding my dingaling

Now this here song it ain't so bad
Prettiest little song that you ever had
And those of you who will not sing
must be playing with your own Ding-a-ling

That doesn't even make it to double entendre. Single-and-a-half entendre?

Can't help much, goodfielder, cuz I bent it out of shape to fit one of the more direct conflict resolution techniques. By the way, you're handling "roger" real well - for an Aussie.
