bella only had a little sex in college. she didn't continue that activity for her entire life. long term its a bad thing. it varies, but say she did that forever she wouldn't be saying the same thing about it i bet. there are degrees.

I think you delude yourself with regard to Europe in the mid-twentieth century, and in any event, you appear not to regard the behavior of the working class or the horse aristocracy as having any merit in such a discussion.
You are dead right there mate. The two classes you mention are of no account.Didn't you know that the middle class runs things these days. That's why it's so good.

Could you put some flesh on "little" for us so that we can make a definitive judgement.
Hey-before I go any further I ought to say that I like sluts. In fact I love them.I always have. When I was a young man I thought sluts were marvellous.
The sluttier the better. You won't ever hear me say a wrong word about sluts.Salt of the earth.
Where I come from they were called "scuzzers".A scuzzer is a slut with a high IQ.Sheesh-the fun I've had.You don't seriously think all those poets were writing about stain cleaner removal salespersons do you?

If by philosophy you mean the discipline as practiced in ivory towers, with all of the attendant obscurantism, obfuscation, oversimplification and esoteric irrelevancies promoted as profound thought--then i suspect the distaff participants here would be willing to accept that judgment, as i certainly would.
.
That suggests you ought to have been in the count on the Cambridge Philosophy Budget Scoffers thread.

My Philosophy professors would have been startled by that tidbit.

They were recruited from that portion of the intelligensia that is easily startled.
I have never scoffed at the Cambridge Philosophy Department . . . not exclusively. I scoff at them all, without regard to their budgets, or lack thereof.

you know, just not a lot.
Oh My, this thread just keeps goin' and goin' like the Energizer Bunny:)
I'm wondering if anyone is interested in "What makes a woman?" or if that whole q was thrown into the dust-bin/into "what makes a man?"
I just shake my head reading this thread.
Why is it that I haven't seen a man post yet who does not bring up a line of ideas that goes "men are pigs, and women should deal with that appropriately. Besides, women get pregnant- it's up to them to take the flak for general human promiscuity"
I though spendius would bring a new 'light' but to no avail.
Spendius, your posts are well written and intelligent; but that only makes some of the underlining queries and statements worse!
It's the same battle. grrrr.
feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. This is just my observations at the moment.
flushd-
New lights are not apples. There's nothing new under the sun sort of thing.I would never risk breaching faith with my readers by claiming I have anything original to say on these questions.Any originality I possess is merely in expression.
I could easily have brought a more penetrating light to bear but I have in the past found it to be ill-advised in mixed discussions where familiarity with more advanced thinking is not always in evidence.
This is merely good manners.Etiquette is a matter of social class.Sluts do have an etiquette but it is one which is generally unknown to refined and well educated ladies, which is,perhaps,a good thing.
It always provides me with a little amusement when the word "sex" is used without any reference to the particular forms,of which there are more than a few,it takes. We are probably on safe ground if we take for granted the form it will take in college settings though.
Also,I didn't wish to question the veracity of the reports concerning "respect" which have been expressed as they may very well be genuine and all the more admirable for the rarity of them within the purlieus in which I am forced to languish.
However,I must say that I feel you have been unjustly hard on me with your strictures.Whilst I admit that there is little originality in suggesting that ladies are tempermentally unsuited to philosophy I think that a comprehensive, scientific demonstration of the fact is not common and certainly not on this philosophy forum.Indeed it passes as a tribute to feminism that this should be the case. The movement's abrupt dismissals of Henry Miller's On The Ovarian Trolley shows clearly how simple it is to deal with assertions which,if you have read attentively, you will notice I studiously tried to avoid resorting to.
On the side, there is an article in last weekend's Sunday Times which purports to demonstrate the penetration of the agenda at the BBC and other pockets of disturbance by feminism which has crept into social discourse almost unnoticed.
Finally,I would like to thank you for your attention and for providing me with the opportunity to add a few more words to the discussion.
PS-What seems to make a woman is milk, bread, candy, chips, hamburgers and suchlike.
You must admit that it's a magical process.

I have sex more than once a week now. I have more sex now than I did in college. The difference is with who I do it.

It will probably make you think awful things about me to know that at one point I had two sexual partners. Never had sex with both of them on the same day as one was generally a weekday thing and the other a weekend. (And it's gross to have sloppy seconds!!!)
for the last time...i think the following make a good woman
honesty, compassion, forgiving, faithful, devoted to family and friends, giving, loving
in fact i find these just make for a good person in general, man or woman. these are just some characteristics i think make people honorable. i could care less what they do in their sex lives as long as no one is getting hurt emotionally or physically.
Have you ladies not considered the extent to which "iknow" (heeheeheeheeheeheeheehee) is engaged not only in promoting his antedeluvian prudery and sexism, but exciting himself with the titilation which comes from getting grown women to discuss the details of their respective sex lives?
AHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHa
i thought that earlier in the thread.
Hence- i got quiet
the purpose is scientific investigation not sex.
Yeah, right . . . "iknow" conducts scientific investigation--i nominate that for oxymoron of the year.
