Prolly. We tend to agree on this. I'd have to go back and read. This thread is way to dense to remember all the content.

there is a difference between sex and popular porn. sex is isn't bad typically, but too much of it is. you can make it bad very easily, and it happens a lot. rape is a problem, a lot of women have been raped, i forgot the percent? porn doens't help the image that its ok for a woman to be in that position, imo.

That is a good point.
And in my mind, violent porn can only lead to real life violence.
This is a blanket statement I know, and doesnt apply to EVERY single human, but is a possibility for most.
I think that when something like violent porn becomes a norm for a person their ability to fantasize about it is -muted-. The excitement is faded and they look for bigger better ways to keep the fantasy feeling going.

I think porn is the least likely corruptor of society.

Drugs, alcohol, bullying, unrealistic beauty standards...those are what are screwing up our kids more than seeing some naked people doing what God intended us to do. Now don't twist this to make it sound like I think a 10 year old should be watching porn but you are making it seem like sex is bad. If people in the US would quit acting like sex is a dirty act, porn wouldn't be so taboo and this conversation wouldn't be happening.

Oh god don't get me started on why porn does NOT contribute to rape. Rape is not about sex, how many times do I have to say that to people here? Seriously. A very small percentage of rapes are due to sexual desire. And underlying that desire is the real reason the men rape. To get control, retain control or enforce control.

Normal peole don't watch porn and say "Hmmm, it's ok for me to be somewhat forceful with women during sex because that guy gets away with it in my porn". A man who thinks that would have thought that with or without the porn. I am not condoning violent porn. I know it is out there. I am talking about your run of the mill, get it in a video store porn that 99% of the population is viewing.

ok, but its more about influence, unconscious influence, then a thought like that. i don't think anyone thinks that.

also the line between violent porn and regular porn is just a matter of degree. its best to get rid of the lot. often times males in porn take on too dominant positions. or the male is simply too dominant. like an old guy with a teenager.

Influence or no influence, if you are a decent person, you know better. And if you aren't a decent person and don't know better, then you'd have done it before the porn.

I guess I should say that someone who is pre-dispositioned to commit an act of rape or other violent sexual assult may "feed" off of films like that, may get ideas or may become energized by them. But I am very doubtful that they would do something after watching a violent porn film if they were never going to do something like that anyway.

it influences them and they don't know it. its an added temptation for sure. if the temptation and desire to do it is increased, the likely hood everyone will do it is increased as well too. and so many women get sexually assualted we aren't talking about a few people we have to worry about here. its increasing hte desire/understanding of it in a LOT of potential abusers.

even I dont agree with my statement 100%.
It takes someone who is mentally 'broken' ( for lack of a better term) to find rape and sexual abuse to be a great turn on.
It is THOSE people that violent porn , in my opin, sort of... eggs on to do more.
Just watching TV images becomes dull and doesnt feed their excitement anymore. TO maintain that excitement, they move on up the ladder,
Harder porn, maybe even harder sex if they have a partner, to the ultimate - rape or other violent sex act-
This ISNT normal people.
I believe this idea only applies to the small percentage of humans who are lacking that normal basic " I shouldnt be doing this " gut reaction we all have.
Every human fantasizes and wonders about weird things all their lives. We have all wondered at some time or another.. " What is it like to kill someone? Why do people do it?" And in these harmless curiousities, we get hit with the feeling of it being ' wrong'.
Broken people.. as I am labeling them, do NOT get that feeling. Murder, rape and the like, is just the same to them as deciding wich set of clothes to wear that day. The only thing that stands out for them is the excitement. That excitement may have.. in SOME cases, came from violent porn. Whent he violent porn didnt feed it anymore.. they moved on.

Does that make better sense? Because I am not saying anyone who watches violent porn will BE violent. NOT at all....

The rape statistics haven't risen. The number of people coming forward may have increased but number of rapes hasn't increased.

Oh yes there is. Have you ever heard of snuff tapes?

And I actually just saw a statistic that says rapes have gone down bu I don't believe that since only about 40% of estimated rapes are reported.
