Don't count your chickens before they are hatched -- better look at Congress and the Senate for the past 100 years. You're crowing before the sun comes up.

Moveon has a listing of vigils taking place TONIGHT to show support for Cindy Sheehan, our troops and to emphasize that we want our troops brought home from Iraq.

You can find a local vigil by entering your zip code.

We are going, along with about 15 friends.

Will you show your support?

Yeah Finn, it is JUST great that we have our soldiers being killed on a daily basis for no justifiable reason. Yeah, it is really great for someone who can sit and post from the safety of his keyboard and joke about it.

You disgust me.

LOL, DTOM!!! All you have to do is read the baloney the lefties right here write. I read about someone hating something (usually Dubya or this country) just about every time I come here.

Nah...the righties here don't hate. We don't have to. The left has the corner on that market.

ya know i got nothin' but love 4 ya, sis... but that is, i think, the first less than honest response i've ever gotten from you. Confused

i'm really disappointed.

yeah, finn, nostalgia is great.

a few years back, iron butterfly played the glendale street fair (and with 3 out of 4 of the original members ! ). that was terrific. that was great.

that, was nostalgia...

our current situation, isn't nostalgia..

it's a war instigated by people who never learned that those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.

it may be nostalgic for them , but not for me.

I suppose people see what they want to see, then. The ABBers here shocked me with their vitriol when I first started reading A2K Politics, but I thought it was the heat of the pre-election politics and would taper off somewhat after Nov. '04. It didn't. Instead of just concentrating the hate and viciousness on GWB, the Left here decided to include those who support him. I'm neither a religious nut nor scared out of my wits nor deficient in intelligence. Yet that baloney is posted here by someone on the left on a daily basis.

You won't find the conservatives on this board name-calling instead of addressing ISSUES, which is typical of the Left when they can't offer any semblance of a counter-argument.

Most of the lefties on this board admit their hatred and wear it more or less as a badge of honor (if only they knew how childish that makes them look) but with time, one begins to realize that most are also lost in the time-machine of the '60's and '70's - their glory-days of anti-war protesting and raging against the machine - trying, no doubt to recapture what they perceive as the best days of their lives. What they don't realize is this is a different time and a different enemy. They're stuck in their time-warp and will remain so until their dying day.

They can't bear to have their memories messed with and lash out at anyone who disagrees with them. It takes enormous reserves of emotional discipline to sustain an open mind, to refrain from personal attacks and to concentrate on the issues. The lefties on this board are for the most part deficient of any discipline, emotional or otherwise. When's the last time you were engaged in a conversation with a grown man who used the term "horsie poop"?

When is the last time you offered an opinion of an ISSUE and were told you were a jerk, or a pathetic poster of drivel or called a liar? None on the right resort to this childishness, but it's rampant from the Left, and considering the owner's own leftist views, it's allowed (although a conservative using the same tactics or any similar vulgarity would most likely be banned...temporarily or permanently).

It's interesting to me that you don't see it. Pay closer attention, perhaps, to those posts and topics offered by those of us on the right and the reponses and replies by those on the left.

Heading to Virginia/D.C. next month (pleasure), then Georgia (pleasure), then it's Christmas (again) in San Diego (aka Paradise on Earth) Smile

You have to live with yourself. Nothing you do has any effect on me. But it is really sad when people claim to support the troops then joke about them dying.

Better look at them TODAY. All my chickens hatched a couple of years ago, and are in their chairs in Congress, the WH and the SC.

You slept too long, Rip Van Winkle.

BTW, that person disgusts me.
Don't worry Chrissee, no need to guess. Everyone knows who I mean.

Well, now it's my turn to put in my worth. If I see all of this correctly, it appears somebody wanted people to join Cindy in a vigil somewhere. Poor Cindy lost her son in Iraq doing what he volunteered to do ie. join the military. Last time I checked there was no draft going on. Since there is no draft going on EVERYBODY in the military voluntered. So therefore, by proxy, they voluntered to come to Iraq. If they didn't want to be here they could have quit and gone to jail. I like that Idea. It weeds out the people who are true military from those who only want the educational benifits.
Personally, if something were to happen to me over here(Iraq) and my mother or my wife took up protesting the war on that account, I would come back from my grave and haunt them to the ends of the earth. Cindy's son voluntered for the military with all its consiquences. Don't you think she should be praising her son instead of disgracing what he was doing.
Perhaps, we should just all leave. And we can all stay home. Some of you out there have seen my similar thoughts. For the people who haven't let me be more out right. ISOLATIONISM DOES NOT WORK. Nor does politics. If politics worked completely there would never be a need for a military.
Does the military WANT to be here? No we would much rather be home with our families. But our is the proffesion of arms. We do what is asked. We are here because there were millions of people who had no voice at all. Seems pretty good that Cindy has this right to even THINK about speaking to the president. A freedom that people like me and her son and millions of other soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines fought and fight for. But there are people out there who don't want other people to have these same freedoms. SHAME on any of you who feel that way.
Are we always successful in accomplishing these goals? No, but at least we try.
And for anybody who foolishly believes we are only here because Iraq has oil, remember, Iraq isn't the olny oilo producing country and we dont receive the majority of our oil from them. And do I believe that this is a "revenge" war? Get real. Congress also had to and has to approve of the amount of military and money being spent. GW didn't have a repulican congress when he asked for a declaration of war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Today (no need to shout) soon becomes tomorrow --- it's not looking good for the Repubs and several of them are defecting from Bush's "stay the course" strategy. He's flaunting the law of attrition and it will come back to bite him in the butt. If he is talking to God, he'd better start praying for a miracle. Those of you who can't see this are emulating a bird in Australia.

ralpheb: Welcome to A2K ... or at least to the "Politics" forum.

http://belizexp.com/forum/images/smiles/welcome.gif

And thanks for your service! It's always good to get the perspective of currently active servicemen. (Particularly when I agree with their perspective. Wink ) We have a few that post here regularly, but I'm not sure if there are any others currently in Iraq (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

God bless, and keep up the good work over there. And (of course) keep your head down ...

Oh, I get it now. You have a counting problem.
