The difference in price is in the thousands in the US, no lie.

@Yalow,
Burial, of course! Body care, Coffin, Plot, Headstone or Plaque (if any).

My husband and I just paid for our cremation - everything all in is $1400 CAD per. They pick up your body (within 50 km), take it to the morgue, bring it back to the crematorium, cremate it and give you the bones/ashes. If you happen to die elsewhere, my family gets the money I paid back. This, of course, includes no service because we don't want one. I think it does include a 250 word obit but we don't want that, either.

@Mame,
And it takes less space. Can we give pieces of our body before being cremated?

@helloitsmee,
Cremation reduces the body to cremated remains in a matter of hours, while traditional burial follows a slow and natural decomposition process.

You could volunteer as an organ donor, but the body parts have to be removed quickly so they don't decompose.

Funerals can cost thousands of dollars! My father took care of my mother’s expenses. His were prearranged when he passed from cancer. They are both in the Jewish part of the cemetery. And do you know the plots were more expensive in the Jewish section then the plots for gentiles.

I've told my people to go the cheapest route they can find for me.

@edgarblythe,
Mine will stick me on a bus to Edinburgh.

Hopefully they won't realise I'm dead 'till after I've got there, and then it's Scotland's problem.

My will states that I should be corkscrewed into the ground while holding up my license as a marker. Hopefully, they do this while I’m truly dead first.

@Ragman,
One of my late Uncles was a funeral director, the family joke was always "just stick a bone up my #$% and let the dogs drag me away.

@glitterbag,
The way my grandfather put it was, "stick a hambone up my keister and let the dogs drag me into the woods'. He's buried right next to the woods.

I'm going naked right into an unbleached cotton sack and buried in an unmarked hole. No ceremony, just me and two hand shovelers.

@CalamityJane,
I'm a Lutheran, I don't even remember owning bermuda shorts. I've never worn flip flops before or after boot camp. And if I had, I'd been wearing socks. I'm 72. I've had life altering major surgeries and been poked, probed, prodded ... you do not want to know.

I admire you uninhibited.

A cotton bag is all I need. It'll be past time for me to begin to give back to the earth.

@CalamityJane,
Well I'd like to hang around until my body has returned to the elements from which it was created, and as I have no desire to hang around longer than possible, cremation would be the quickest way.

This body that you see It isn’t really me
It’s but the womb in which I’m being formed
For I am spirit, I am mind
And it’s the only place you’ll find
‘Who I Am’ until the day I’m finally born
For I will not be free, until this body that you see
Has returned to the earth from whence it came
It’s then that I’ll be born from this womb in which I’m formed
To carry on in life’s eternal game. …. The Anointed.

@The Anointed,
A distinction without a difference.

@Ragman,
There is a difference between the body and the mind=spirit that develops within the body, and I am simply asking whether Yalow believes that she will cease to exist with the death of her body.
