Frank,one question.

Should that "right to choose" extend beyond pregnancy?

Should a woman be granted say 3 months after the birth to decide she doesnt want the child and be able to legally dump it and never look back?

No.

Then lets make it easier for you.
lets say the child is less then 14 days old.
Should a parent then be allowed to abandon that infant, and never look back?

Stop with the childish games, will ya. You are not anywhere near up to the job of subtlty.

What the hell are you asking?

Do you agree or not that a womans "right" to choose what happens to her baby extends to after the baby is born?
Should she be allowed to abandon that child before that child is 14 days old, even if it kills the child?

Its a simple question.

Go ask your questions of someone else. I have explained my position thoroughly...and if you don't get it...there is something wrong with your ability to get it...not with my explanations.

I am asking if you agree with laws already on the books.

http://www.dhs.state.ia.us/safehaven/safehaven.asp

Whats wrong, are you afraid that you were being led into a trap?

Do you agree with these laws, even if it means a baby could possibly die as a result?
After all, isnt it a mothers CHOICE what she does with her baby?
Isnt she exercising her "right to choose" by abandoning an infant like this?

If you have a statement to make...if you have a position to offer...we can discuss your statement or your position.

As for being "afraid" that you are going to lead me into a trap...

...I am much, much more afraid that someone is going to plant a hydrogen bomb in my car some day.

(If that was too subtle...ask someone to explain it to you.)

again, you avoid the question,so lets make it so simple that a 5 year old can understand it (and if you still cant,go ask a 5 year old to read it to you)...

Do you agree with the safehaven laws??

Its a simple yes or no answer.

Frank, I think this is what you were concerned about… this thread turning into a circus…with clowns all inclusive.

I've been laughing my lungs out all day from all the nonsense being posted here. I just don't know how you can continue responding incoherent posts with such seriousness and dedication.

(Every time, when I enter and read from a thread like this one, I feel like I'm back in high school.)

Now Jason, let's all play nice tonight, ok? I can't afford a babysitter and I'm tired.

Actually, the Safehaven Laws are IMO much better than an abortion any day. They provide for the child and the mother doesn't have to worry about negative consequences.

One more thing. Let us, hypothicaly of course, assume that there is no religion or heaven and that the soul does not go anywhere. You seem to think this is the case anyhow. What would your argument be towards those who think that abortion is wrong.

Actually, this is not so hypothetical because there are those who do not follow religion who still think that abortion is wrong. After all, I think that it is a moral issue more than religious.

Hi Intrepid,

You are so right. It is true that there are many who follow no religion but still believe abortion to be wrong. That is because they recognize the unborn to be a living human being -- a person, an individual.

If the unborn is just a blob of tissue, an appendage of the mother's body-- how could one possibly think it was wrong to destroy it? It would be like removing a mole or a wart. It would be completely illogical to think abortion was wrong if the unborn was just protein or protoplasm.

But if the unborn is a person, then it is wrong to exterminate him whether you are religious or not. Medically it is quite apparent that the unborn is a person, and you don't have to be religious to realize it.

Some interesting perspectives are here:

Pagans for Life (really, yes) http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Parliament/8383/

Feminists for Life (one of many groups with similar name) http://members.tripod.com/~danewe/

A potpourri of unique pro-life links , you'll be amazed what you read but they are real http://www.gargaro.com/abortion/alt.html

Take care, Intrepid. So glad to hear from you.

Suppose you stop asking me questions...and make a statement about your position...and then we can discuss that.

And if you want to keep asking questions...ask them of someone else.

Hi Intrepid,

You are so right. It is true that there are many who follow no religion but still believe abortion to be wrong. That is because they recognize the unborn to be a living human being -- a person, an individual.[/qiote]

It is also true that there are many who follow no religion but consider abortion to be wrong...and NOT because they "recognize the 'unborn' to be a living human being."

Damn near everyone I know considers abortion to be a horrible undertaking...but most of us do not consider an embryo, for instance, to be a "living human being."

But it is fun watching Life trying to make that silly case.

Boy...that term "unborn" does sound like it comes from a horror flick, doen't it. You folks really ought to get some people with brains to help you with the image problem that expression engenders.

Oh, boy...talk about pathetic logic.

And one can have an revulsion for abortion...and consider it a terrible alternative...but still have the common decency to keep one's nose out of someone else's decision in that matter.

All of which can occur even in a person NOT considering a zygote, an embryo, a fetus...to be a living human being.

Hi Frank,

Just wondering if you could work on the quote thing a bit. You seem to be attributing comments to me that I did not make.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Actually...I was quoting parts of Real Life's response to you...to you.

If I didn't make that clear, I apologize.
