Here's another
Here's one. I don;t really use it but I find it very ironic.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia
It is the fear of long words.

Really? I'd never know...
Clary wrote:Endymion predates Dan Simmons by millennia, Endy!
In Greek mythology, he was the most handsome of men, the god of eternal youth and fertility. Some versions describe him as king, others as a shepherd. The moon goddess Selene was so smitten with Endymion's beauty that she put him into a perpetual sleep so that she could kiss him whenever she wished.
In his poem ENDYMION, John Keats starts with the famous sentence:
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing
Thanks for posting this, Clary.
Feel a bit stupid not knowing, but also kinda like you gave me something good by telling me. The mention of dreams in Keats' poem means something to me.
Endy
coccyx...just an odd word all together...sounds like maybe it should be an insulting word...
you freaking coccyx...
Crevice......it conjours up such wonderful memories.
courvoisier...doesn't that sound nice...i guess that's french though...
it just rolls off the tongue
But that was long time ago, LE...
Dragon, you can drink that, as I do, sometimes..
Fluff. Sounds funny. Defenestrated. He he! And... antidisestablishmentarianism, because it's the longest word I can say! My dad taught me that one!
onomatopoeia;
The formation of words whose sound is imitative of the sound of the noise or action designated eg buzz boom hiss.
While I'm here "sibulant" is a lovely word. Its almost onomatopoeia
Well, I like a lot of words and being a teenager I tend to make up a lot of words to suit my mood, one of which being "confuzzled". It's a cross between confused and puzzled and I just love the word!!
my favourite, though it is a bit like skedaddle, is what my mom called us if we did something stupid.
Derklebonce
dunno how you'd spell it but that is kind phonetic.
Boephe
'Skedaddle' has an entirely different meaning in American English. It is dialect for 'depart' or 'leave in a hurry.' And it's always a verb.
i meant like skedaddle in that it is probably made up. I thought that skedaddle was made up and i know that derkalbonce, or however i spelt it, is made up. I know what skedaddle means cos my mom told it to me as well. If skedaddle is actually a word then that is quite cool, hey?
anyhoo
Skedaddle is in my Webster's New Riverside Dictionary where it isn't even listed as 'dialect' but merely 'informal.' Definition: 'To leave hastily; flee.'
I've always liked the word quintessence, meaning the essence of.
truck lol...don't ask me why, just like it's 'truckishness'.
Also, erkle. Not a real word though =p
