@izzythepush,
Well, it's not me, personally, because I'm in Alberta, but I spent my first 50 years in BC and have been to and through Lytton many times. Just a small town and they had less than 15 minutes to evacuate. Poor buggers.

@Region Philbis,
Yes, I've been reading about the western USA... north and south. Been reading lots of articles on why the drought is happening. And of farmers leaving acres fallow, selling off their cattle and other livestock (each cow apparently drinks 50 gal of water a day), almond farms mulching their fields, others diverting precious water from this crop to that and how Lake Mead is at 36% capacity... and it's only July 1.

@izzythepush,
It is, of course, but I've also been reading about water conservation efforts (Denver, for one) and drip irrigation and using waste water for irrigation and firefighting.

The problem is that the problem has to be acknowledged. It can be ameliorated, if not rectified. Grow different crops, for example.

Also read about a 2-way heat pump that costs a bit more than an air conditioner but does both - can heat your space and then air conditions it. You can save up to 2/3 of your heating/air conditioning costs.

Well, at 11:00 am it's 54º. I'm supposed to play an outdoor concert on Sunday — and the forecast says damp and it might hit 60º. Not fun.

@hightor,
1. Are you talking F? because that's cooool. And I be jealous. If it's C - OMG.

2. What instrument are you playing?

3. What's the concert for/about?

@Mame,
1. F (thankfully)

2. bass clarinet

3. It's a trimmed-down Fourth of July concert. Instead of a full band, the director has decided on four small ensembles. A brass quintet, a flute group, a clarinet trio, and a bunch of recorders with a harp. Thing is, the town's right on the water and if it's damp and breezy my fingers will really get cold — not a problem for the trombones. This will be my first performance in 16 months.

@hightor,
Don’t like the sound of the recorders.

Is that why they put it on last.

The rest sounds OK.

You enjoy yourself.

14c kind of hazy, but it looks like the sun is trying to burn that off.

After days of thunder storms, It's a pleasure to sit outside drinking coffee.

@Joeblow,
We've had several days of thunderstorms, too. It's supposed to be in the 20s this week, thank heavens.

@Mame,
Severe thunderstorm with hail two nights ago followed by 31c yesterday, even before the ugly humidity added to the misery, but 21 now, which is the expected high for the day. Still a few thunderstorms kicking around, we've got squall warnings, but that cold front helps

@Joeblow,
Nice and fresh. I even felt a bit chilly this morning wearing a T shirt.

Thunderstorms were predicted for yesterday and today. Didn't get one yesterday, we'll see this afternoon. But it rained last night. All right by me - I don't have to water the garden. Deck sliding door wide open letting in some cool air.

We've been getting the occasional shower. The weather has been several degrees cooler than the norm for Houston. July is a good time for that.

A couple days ago we had humidex readings of near 40C. Now at 10:00 a.m. it's 16C. Dark grey skies, loads of rain, quite heavy at times... in fact we have yet another weather warning today: heavy rainfall. I've turned on some lamps

So, we have a small fire going, and I'm contemplating a nap. Ideal circumstances and all

@Joeblow,
Well, it's raining here again, too. More lightning last night. Fortunately, I'm taking my neighbour out for dim sum at the best dim sum restaurant in the city. Highlight of my day for sure. Oh, and get some more books.

@Mame,
Dim sum was fabulous and some leftovers for dinner. It's HOT here now - where's the damn temperate weather? Did some weeding and some planting. Lovely day out there. Now kibitzing with all you lovely people on here. Forgot to hit the library. Maybe I'll do that now.

My lunch neighbour gave me a boatload of lilies - for some reason she doesn't like cut flowers in her home, whereas I like to have them everywhere. So cheerful and colourful. I love my neighbour Smile Joyce is her name. Littler than me, 77, and great friend.
