Raphillion - There's always a part "lost in translation"...

I can feel the real meaning of "perdutamente" but I can not find a word in English which conveys that part of "beauty" inherent to this word...

Both word are quite close to "perdutamente" and obviously would be a better translation than "like there is no tomorrow" Which is the one I used Smile

But yet the meaning is also somewhat different, you loose the "To loose yourself in love" part... I guess there's no way to translate it. It is sad how you loose something anytime you translate from any language to any other... Rolling Eyes



I agree, you loose in translations. That is why I would like to know all the languages of the world, so when I read a poem I have a better idea of what the poet really was trying to say. I have come across many bad translations, and it really bothers me how they get away with it.

I agree it can be hard to find a word to convey the meaning and the feeling in certain languages, but maybe more than one word can be used to come close to the meaning and the feeling. I try to look at all the angles when I attempt a translation.

Grand'salle (obsolete) - The biggest room of a place, where cerimonials were to be held. The more pompous one.

Grande salle - big room.

Yes, there are.

a correct sentence would be:

- Je veux que vous me parliez français.

<your sentence is the literal translation of "I want you speak French to me". Unfortunately, grammar forms differ>

almost,

"how beautiful his house is!" - quelle jolie maison est la sienne!

"Quelle jolie maison il a" translates as "what a beautiful house he has"
