@Builder,
I doubt you even remember what it’s like to tell the truth, or to have an honest exchange of thoughts.

That’s so pathetic.

Bye, “builder”.

DOJ warrant cites fresh evidence Trump may have moved his documents around to hide them after FBI searches

The Washington Post reported Sunday afternoon that more evidence might have become available to prove obstructions of justice for the theft of the government documents taken back to Mar-a-Lago.

Trump refused to turn the documents over for nearly a year when the Justice Department and FBI got involved. The FBI was then given an envelope with additional documents, but that still wasn't everything. Ultimately, the DOJ got a search warrant and went to Mar-a-Lago to get the documents.

According to the fresh evidence, there is more that has been discovered pointing to former President Donald Trump's obstructions of justice, those familiar told the Post.

"The additional evidence comes as investigators have used emails and text messages from a former Trump aide to help understand key moments last year," the report explained, citing the sources.

Special counsel Jack Smith is at work on the documents case as well as anything around the Jan. 6 attack.

The report highlighted that the key difference between documents found at Trump's home and those found at former Vice President Mike Pence's or President Joe Biden's is the intent and the obstruction. Both Pence and Biden say they were unaware that they had the information. Trump knew because he was told about it so many times when being asked for it to be returned prior to the DOJ being involved.

"Investigators now suspect, based on witness statements, security camera footage, and other documentary evidence, that boxes including classified material were moved from a Mar-a-Lago storage area after the subpoena was served, and that Trump personally examined at least some of those boxes," the Post said, citing their sources. "While Trump’s team returned some documents with classified markings in response to the subpoena, a later FBI search found more than 100 additional classified items that had not been turned over."

This information could be additional evidence to prove Trump's intent.

Trump admitted on his social media site that he "did" steal the documents.

From what I can determine, there's little evidence of any concerning level of protest in NY tomorrow for Trump's arraignment.

Now imagine what might be the case if the JD had not gone after the Jan 6 rioters with all the vigor they have been showing.

I don’t know how familiar you are with NY mores, but that confederate/Nazi/MAGA **** would NOT have gone over real smooth if they tried it there.

@snood,
I'm quite aware of NYers attitudes to Trump (wrote about it earlier). Is your premise that the Proud Boys and other brown-shirt types don't like fighting?

Don't you think that knowledge of what happened to those involved on Jan 6 (massive photographic and other data collection -> criminal proceedings -> long jail sentences) is the vastly important aspect here?

Here's an important stat I did not know.

In 2021 @pewresearch polling, only 20% of all Americans, including just 24% of Repubs who don't own guns, supported "allowing people to carry concealed guns without a permit." Like Trump, he's showing an instinct to play to the short side of the field. https://pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/09/13/key-facts-about-americans-and-guns/

From Tump interview on Hannity last night. (video provided with tweet)

Quote:
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen @NoLieWithBTC

Hannity: “I can’t imagine you ever saying: ‘Bring me some of the boxes that we brought back from the White House. I’d like to look at them.”

Trump: “I would do that!”

Hannity: “Alright, let me move on...”

Trump: “I have the right to take stuff!”

Note Hannity's attempt to immediately avoid Trump's legally rash statements. But it's not Trump's brand to acknowledge any limits to his power and authority.

I think those “master race” types don’t have a great record for standing up to equal or greater numbers. They will run you over with a car, gang up on you, or shoot you, but when a large group of non-pacifists meet them face to face I don’t remember them seeming so eager to show their asses.

To answer your question -yes, I think a lot of them getting jail sentences will probably serve as a deterrent to the more reasonable, but I don’t have any reason to think it will prove “vastly” more “significant” than the presence of a large group of fed-up New Yorkers willing to confront. I think both factors are important, and I dearly hope any MAGATs that show up in Manhattan will have a greeting party.

That’s why I’m hoping for a real strong gag order from the judge this week. Strong enough that Trump just can’t resist trampling all over it and playing chicken.

If relatively small and entirely peaceful, sure. Any thing past that will only serve the propaganda purposes of Trump et al. Further, it seems a distinct possibility that ratfucker right wingers will infiltrate any such leftie protest precisely to aid such propaganda purposes.

If trumpers don’t start any ****, there won’t be any ****.

On another note, THIS is interesting. A number of Trump-loyal secret service members have been subpoenaed and are expected to be witnesses AGAINST Trump.

A young man was just arrested and charged after being found on a campus with the following items in his car...

A revolver, loaded handgun, a rifle, two shotguns and several hundred rounds of ammunition. He was also found to have a “makeshift firework explosive,” brass knuckles, a machete, a sword, a “blowdart weapon,” a crossbow, a hatchet, a stun gun, a dozen knives, “claws,” a baton, bolts for the crossbow, two “choking devices,” a window breaker, a chicken foot, pepper spray and “holy water.” Here

The chicken foot and holy water are a colorful touch, it seems to me.

@snood,
Rather tricky for a secret service agent to falsify testimony. Particularly where multiple agents are testifying.

@blatham,
It was a young white man and he was arrested on campus at an HBCU - A&T University- and he was released on bond almost immediately.

This happened about an hour drive from where I’m sitting right now.

It should be noted:

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a public, historically black land-grant research university in Greensboro, North Carolina.
