@farmerman,
Hi farmerman
Yes, Lindell has been making noise again and almost certainly in concert with Trump's team. But Giuliani and others associated with him who were previously fully on board with spreading the falsehoods have been quiet. Both Hannity and Carlson have suggested "something amiss" but their present rhetoric is far more subdued that previously. There are some other examples here and there of attempts to forward the stolen election agitprop but it is all far quieter than it had been and far quieter than I'd expected.

What is clear is that oralloy has absolutely no idea about the actual mechanics of how elections work. I, on the other hand, do, and he's full of it.

About as impressive as saying you know how to call bingo, because you've played a few games. Go you.

@Builder,
The point is, you don't need to possess "impressive" knowledge in order to set anyone straight about ballot counting. If oralloy had looked into his charge that Democrats were "cheating" he'd have learned that a huge number of absentee ballots were delivered on Election Day and are being checked, verified, and counted by hand.

Goodnight Builder.

A little before 9:30 p.m. Eastern time, NBC called Nevada’s tight Senate race for the incumbent: Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto. Cortez Masto defeated Adam Laxalt, a former attorney general for the state, whom former president Trump had endorsed.

This means that the Democrats keep control of the Senate.

Democrats will have 50 votes in the new Congress just as they did in the current one, enabling Vice President Kamala Harris to break ties in their favor.

Harris may not need to break ties, though, if the last Senate seat goes to the Democrats. That last seat is the one outstanding seat from Georgia. In the election there, Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock garnered about 35,000 more votes than Trump-endorsed Republican Herschel Walker, but neither man won 50% of the vote. Under Georgia law, this forces a runoff, which will be held on December 6. Walker is a deeply flawed candidate, and now that his election cannot give the Republicans control of the Senate, it is not clear that voters will turn out for him.

As of late October, NPR reported that outside groups had spent almost a billion dollars on the campaigns of Republican Senate candidates, hoping to take control of that body. Key to that desire for control was control of the judiciary, where the right wing has entrenched itself as it has become increasingly extreme and unpopular. Even without control of the House—which is still unclear as election officials continue to count votes—Democratic control of the Senate means that President Joe Biden will be able to continue confirming judges.

After the Nevada race was called, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told reporters that the victory was “a vindication for Democrats, our agenda, and…for the American people.” He explained: “The American people rejected the antidemocratic extremist MAGA Republicans.”

@hightor,
The arguments of these MAGA-"activists" are as confused as their slogans.

@farmerman,
Yeah. That additional seat is important. There's going to be an avalanche of money and activism from both parties over the next few weeks.

But they are highly entertaining.

@bobsal u1553115,
I am surrounded by them, so I don't find them entertaining at all. It is all I can do to remain silent if they start voicing their opinions in a waiting room or someplace like that. I know I don't do well in public confrontations, I start getting panic attacks in the middle of it.

Four people have been killed in an explosion in Istanbul.

It looks like a terrorist attack but no group has yet claimed responsibility.

Nonsense. Elections don't take that long to tally.

It's never taken that long to count the ballots before. Why does it suddenly take so long this time? And why only in certain specific races that the Democrats really want to win.

@oralloy,
The election officials also have to count all of the mail-in votes, which do take time. And because voting by mail has become an increasingly popular option in recent years, don't expect the winner to be determined on election night like in the past.

For example, in New Jersey, all of the districts are only reporting 95%, as they are still counting the mail-in votes.

@oralloy,
You can't have it both ways, complain about stolen elections then whine when the vote counting is thorough and rigorous.

The ironic thing is your lot complained about voting machines and wanted hand counts.

If that were the case they'd still be counting next week.

For once I agree with you oral, all we need to do is change "Pretty sure"
to "Positive";
"Positive you don't how to count correctly."

It doesn't take this long to count the votes. Something fishy is going on.

An election that takes a day (or in extreme cases two) to count is one thing.

This is going way past the amount of time that is needed to count the ballots.
