Of course you’re right, Frank. Any way that Biden parsed his words would’ve been spun as “decisive” by the right, because they’ve got nothing else but lying and denying.

Yup.

It is beginning to look as though they want war at any price.

Weird. Seems the right wing all across the West is acting that way...in Germany, in France, in Italy, in the UK. What the hell do they want?

@Frank Apisa,
I understand what you all are saying. Biden didn't use the same kind of words, such as vilifying a whole race of people just because of who they are or where they are from, as Trump always did. Nor was he trying to force a political view down anyone's throat. All I am saying is that he should have made his point without an "us and them" kind of vibe, which might be off-putting to swing voters come the midterms. Plus, I haven't like the political tone the republicans have been using ever since Obama first started to be looked at as a candidate for President. I don't think we should join them, is all I am trying to say.

However, I could have gotten the wrong message from the whole speech. I really need to find a transcript before I keep defending my position.

Well, I just read a transcript of his speech. It is constructed differently, kind of dividing each thought, so to speak. When read that way, you guys are right, he wasn't divisive at all, and he did make a great distinction between traditional republicans and MAGA republicans. I don't believe it will be discerned the way he meant and really said it by independents and swing voters. I hope I am wrong. However, it was a great speech and said exactly what has been happening in the country. He just needs to also include those off shoots of MAGA republicans, DeSantis is Trump without the stupidity and goes even further and knows how to word things in a way different from Trump ever did manage.

In other words he is not stupid enough to just baldly say, we don't want to read about black people's troubles (or words to that effect), he kind of leaves out the real struggles black Americans have had since they were brought to America chained up in the bottom of stinking ships and made to be slaves so that white people could be rich, or leaves out how we stole the land from the Indians and slaughtered them and made them live on reservations in very harsh environments and all the other less than honorable history of our country and the still ongoing struggles minorities face today, and just talks about how the elitist left wants our white children to feel guilty for being white, so we need to ban all those books and all books of which we don't agree with which teaches our children inappropriate sexual matters for their age or self-hate so to speak.

I guess that would have been going off on a tangent, but he should have brought up the banning of books and other things like that, which MAGA crowd has taken up. But maybe that is just my pet peeve.

Plane circling Mississippi lands in field. Source says pilot is in custody after alleged Walmart threat

(CNN)A small plane that circled for hours Saturday morning over Tupelo, Mississppi, and surrounding areas landed in a field in Ripley, Mississippi, the FAA said. A source told CNN the pilot, who police said threatened to crash the stolen plane into a Tupelo Walmart, is in custody.

"Thankful the situation has been resolved and that no one was injured," Gov. Tate Reeves said in a tweet. "Thank you most of all to local, state, and federal law enforcement who managed this situation with extreme professionalism."

The ex-president is under enormous pressure after the FBI raid, furiously lashing out at his opponents - even more shrilly than usual: In Pennsylvania, he attacks his successor as an "enemy of the state" and announces "purges" in Washington.

Trump Lashes Out in First Rally Since F.B.I. Search
Quote:
WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — In his first rally since his home was searched by the F.B.I. on Aug. 8, former President Donald J. Trump on Saturday lashed out at President Biden and federal agents, calling his Democratic rival “an enemy of the state” and the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice “vicious monsters.”

In an aggrieved and combative speech in Pennsylvania, Mr. Trump stoked anger against law enforcement even as the F.B.I. and federal officials have faced an increase in threats following the search of Mr. Trump’s residence to retrieve classified documents.

Mr. Trump’s remarks echoed the chain of similar, escalating attacks he wrote on his social media website this week, including posts that singled out one agent by name. That agent has retired, and his lawyers have said he did not have a role in the search.

Although he faced criticism for the tirades, and some Republicans have warned about the political dangers in attacking law enforcement, the former president signaled he would yield no ground.

His speech came two days after Mr. Biden warned that democratic values were under assault by forces loyal to Mr. Trump. The former president described Mr. Biden’s address as “the most vicious, hateful, and divisive speech ever delivered by an American president.”

“You’re all enemies of the state,” Mr. Trump told thousands of supporters at his rally, where he was campaigning for Pennsylvania Republicans, including State Senator Doug Mastriano, the right-wing nominee for governor, and Mehmet Oz, the celebrity television physician and Senate candidate. “He’s an enemy of the state, you want to know the truth,” he said of Mr. Biden.

He told the crowd: “It was not just my home that was raided last month. It was the hopes and dreams of every citizen who I’ve been fighting for.”

Mr. Trump described America as a nation in decline, a theme that has become a staple of his post-White House campaign rallies. In Pennsylvania, he again falsely claimed he won the 2020 election and tailored his speech to highlight a spate of recent murders in Philadelphia.

Mr. Biden has also spent considerable time in Pennsylvania in recent days, underscoring the political significance this year of what may be the nation’s ultimate battleground state. He cast Trumpism as an urgent threat to the nation in Philadelphia, and he also spoke in Wilkes-Barre, near the arena where Mr. Trump appeared. He is expected in Pittsburgh on Monday for a Labor Day appearance.

At the rally, Mr. Trump attacked the two Democratic candidates at the top of the ticket, Josh Shapiro for governor and John Fetterman for senator.

He was particularly brutal and unrestrained in attacking Mr. Fetterman, whom he called a “socialist loser” and accused, with no evidence, of using a laundry list of hard drugs.

Mr. Fetterman’s campaign responded: “More and more lies from Trump and Dr. Oz; another day, but it’s the same crap from these two desperate and sad dudes.”

Soon after, Mr. Fetterman was fund-raising off Mr. Trump’s speech.

Roy Bunger, a 65-year-old Pennsylvanian who attended Mr. Trump’s rally, said before the event that he believed the search of Mr. Trump’s residence was a political ploy.

“They’re deliberately targeting him and doing anything they can to keep him from running again,” Mr. Bunger said.

But other Republicans have been more wary of Mr. Trump’s actions. Earlier this week, Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri said Mr. Trump should have turned the documents over. William P. Barr, who served as attorney general under Mr. Trump, has defended the F.B.I. search.

Court records show that the F.B.I. has collected 18 documents marked as top secret, 54 marked as secret, 31 marked as confidential and 11,179 government documents or photographs without classification markings. According to the court filings, the sensitive, government-owned documents were in containers mixed among news clippings, articles of clothing and gifts.

It was unclear whether more documents remained at Mr. Trump’s property. Federal agents recovered 48 empty folders with classified markings and instructions that the user should “return to staff secretary/military aide,” according to court records.

A Florida judge is considering a request from Mr. Trump’s lawyers to allow an independent arbiter to review the materials taken by federal agents.

@roger,
The real issue is, everyone knows how corrupt the Biden family really is, so they're backtracking to someone they know they can trust.

How's that for reality> ??

No, Builder, that's not the "real issue". You're simply confused and misguided.

It is dangerous to believe that “balanced journalism” gives equal weight to liars and to truth-tellers, to those intent on destroying democracy and those seeking to protect it, to the enablers of an ongoing attempted coup and those who are trying to prevent it.
[...]
Why must we wait until some of America’s ablest journalists are sacked before they are willing and able to tell America the truth?

It is not “partisan” to explain what Trump and his anti-democracy movement are seeking.

It is not “taking sides” to point out that the Trump Republicans are trying to establish an authoritarian government in America.

It is not “violating journalistic standards” to tell the unvarnished truth about what America is facing today.

In fact, a failure to call out the Trump Republicans for what they are – liars, enablers, and accessories to crimes against the constitution – itself violates the most basic canons of journalistic ethics.

Quote from the opinion Democracy is under attack – and reporting that isn’t ‘violating journalistic standards’

It just gets me how we can know that a group of people are liars and hypocrites

But still dutifully react to each instance of lying and hypocrisy with outrage

Not throwing stones - I do it myself

I know Trump and his supporters are liars and hypocrites

Like a mindless drone I pore over every report of lying and hypocrisy

And as reliably as a metronome goes from there to there and back,
I express my disgust and outrage

I just watched 15 seconds of the latest Trump rally

Why was it aired? Did they not know exactly what lies he would tell; what reactions he would milk from the sheep?

They ALWAYS know. They always will show at least the juicy excerpts.

And so it goes

Been a few videos of Patriot Front training shared on Twitter lately. Wondering if the ability of the US to breed losers of this magnitude is a new phenomenon, or if they've been waiting in the shadows for the likes of Trump to legitimize their particular brand of stupidity?

If you weren't so tired you might have been able to say something new about a topic of interest. You accomplished neither. But it's getting late and you're obviously exhausted. You couldn't even finish your comment – you forgot to mention "Hillary". Go to bed.
