@McGentrix,
One of the posters on a website with a similar theme said, "If you want as many rights as an inanimate object, basically you're saying you don't want any rights."

And indeed some of these not only take women to a time with no voting rights, no right to education, but to Islamic style arranged marriages or the ultimate in objectification.

Women now have most of the rights of men, but over abortion, which was never a true right, they want the right to kill other people in exchange for giving up all real rights they've earned in 150 years.

Also, that's a grown as woman referring to herself in diminutive. As a "girl"? Why don't you see yourself as a proper woman?

The Jan. 6 Committee names Republican members of Congress who were plotting with Trump on Dec. 21:

Brian Babin, Andy Biggs, Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, Paul Gosar, Andy Harris, Jody Hice, Jim Jordan, and Scott Perry. Marjorie Taylor Greene (not yet in Congress) was also there.

How about firing these guys for not following "company policy"?

Jan. 6 committee chairman says panel has 'started producing information' for DOJ
Annie Grayer

By Annie Grayer, CNN

Updated 8:41 PM ET, Tue July 12, 2022

https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/12/politics/january-6-committee-transcripts-doj-request-thompson/index.html

(CNN)Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi said Tuesday that the House select committee investigating January 6, 2021, has "started producing information" for the Department of Justice relevant to its request for transcripts of interviews the committee has conducted.

"We have started producing information about who we have interviewed and that kind of thing pursuant to what they have requested. We are in the process, negotiating how that information will be viewed, whether it's an in camera review, or what," the panel's chairman told CNN.

Thompson said the request from the department was to look at the committee's transcripts and "that's the spirit in which we plan to work with them."

In May, the Justice Department asked the committee to hand over transcripts of the panel's witness depositions as part of its investigation.

The committee did not initially agree to the request because members felt protective of its work. But over time, the committee warmed up to developing a process with the department.

Last month, Thompson said the committee was hoping to establish a procedure with the DOJ at some point in July, once it finished its hearings, to help the department with its investigation.

"We are moving forward," Thompson said at the time when asked to characterize the talks. "We will probably do something in the month of July, but it probably will not be before we complete the hearings. We'll establish a procedure to look at some of the material."

Asked then if the committee would share its interview transcripts, the Mississippi Democrat said, "No, it won't be a shared transcript. We will keep the documents, you know they are our product. Now if they want to come and have an opportunity to sit and review them and that kind of thing, I think we can work that out."

Thompson said at the time that the panel would not start the process until July because "what we are trying to do right now is work through the hearings. And it's anticipated if we can complete the hearings, that will free up staff and other things to accommodate that request."

The committee on Tuesday held its seventh hearing since the public events began last month.

The latest fleshed out the links between former President Donald Trump and the far-right extremist groups that were at the vanguard of the violent effort to stop the transition of power and keep him in office, despite his 2020 election loss.

The committee walked through snippets of witness depositions, court documents, previously unseen emails and other materials to make the case that Trump coyly courted these militants and saw them as his troops on the ground to pressure Congress to overturn the election results.

"All of these efforts would converge and explode on January 6," Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat and committee member who led parts of Tuesday's hearing, said during his opening statements.

This story has been updated with additional details Tuesday.

@blatham,
If you cannot have sympathy for your enemies but rather take glee in their suffering, none shall be extended to you when you get embarrassing stuff happen to you.

Be better than your enemies. Do better.

@bobsal, Trump was acquitted by Senate. Double Jeopardy rules should apply. This "committee" is a farce.

@bulmabriefs144,
Trump was impeached. Twice. But never tried. The Senate ruled that he would not be tried. So if he goes to trial over charges the DOJ decides to bring, it wouldn’t be double jeopardy.

If you were impeached as a president, and the charges didn't stick... say for corruption, do you think they'd be able to go ahead? Of course not! Nor would you want them to go ahead. The news says he was impeached, but this is wrong. They didn't have the majority needed. The news is telling you a false story.

Quote:
At the beginning of the trial, Senator Rand Paul forced a vote to dismiss the impeachment charge on the basis that it was unconstitutional to try a former president, arguing that impeachment only applies to current federal officers and that the punishment of removal from office was moot under the circumstances.

The trial was absurd to start with. They went ahead with it anyway.

They didn't have enough to convict. He's still able to be elected president I think. They don't have a case.

@bulmabriefs144,
Just so I’m clear here..
You’re not saying that Trump didn’t do anything wrong, but that it would be wrong to try him now?

In Sudan a woman has been sentenced to death by stoning for adultery.

Sudan leads and the American Supreme Court follows.

@BillW,
I think he's the only impeached president who, in the second trial, actually had senators from his own party vote against him.

Andy Harris is a congressman in an area next to mine. He has completely been educated and supported by the Military and now Politics. The Military paid for his medical training and his becoming a Doctor and now the smug bastard is trying to help take our American right to vote away from us. I will be supporting his opponent in the next election because Harris represents the area my grand daughter lives in. I will not vote for coup planners, the ungrateful bastards.

@Frank Apisa,
Reality Check: If he was really "impeached", why did they need to do it twice?

What makes an impeachment is Senate, not Congress.

And in response to someone who said "You don't understand what impeachment is." Yes, I do. You don't. Impeachment is not removal from office. Impeachment is not prevention from running again. And the second time was impeachment of a regular citizen, which is unconstitutional.

To do either of these things, you have to find the person guilty. By a 2/3 majority I think.

That Congress piled on like a lynch mob is utterly irrelevant. The second time, the opinion of most of the Senate was important, because it means they thought he did something wrong. But in the court of public opinion, he was still acquitted.

No matter how people screamed, Impeach Him!

He was acquitted. Twice.
