@edgarblythe,
They weren’t all good when you just defended them.
They’re not all bad when you just trash them.

@snood,
You see it as trashing them. I see it as goading them to do their job. The Democratic Party was the only hope left leaning people have to get this country to work as it should and they keep slipping right more and more. I see 2022 and 2024 as probably our last chance to have any democracy. And they are blowing it.

@edgarblythe,
I'm inclined to agree. I am Republican from birth, but I had to vote for Biden this time. At that, I expected better.

Too many people view the ones trying to help as spoilers.

@edgarblythe,
Meh.

If Joe Biden read A2K, or if you were somehow sending your critiques to him or his staff, or even if you were writing letters to the editor of a paper, your claim of “goading him on to do his job” might make a scintilla of sense. Maybe.

Don’t dress it up as something it isn’t. You’re just venting bile to an opinion forum.

People who accept crumbs gratefully as they fall off the banquet table are as much the problem as the ones they've elected.

Fox's Neil Cavuto 1) gets covid then 2) gets honest, and 3) says something truthful regarding why right wing media/political voices are pushing the "tyranny!" propaganda line.

Quote:
Nearly a week after announcing he had tested positive for a breakthrough coronavirus infection, Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Sunday pleaded with viewers to forget politics and get vaccinated.

Take the political speaking points and toss them for now,” Cavuto, 63, said on Fox’s “MediaBuzz.” “I’m begging you — toss them and think of what’s good, not only for yourself, but for those around you.”

When he announced his diagnosis on Tuesday, Cavuto was outspoken about the importance of getting immunized. In a statement released by Fox News, he said doctors told him he would be in a “far more dire situation” had he not received the coronavirus vaccine, and “I’m surviving this because I did.”...

“In the end, if you can get vaccinated and think of someone else and think of what that could mean to them and their survivability from something like this, we’ll all be better off,” Cavuto said.

Cavuto’s comments sharply contrast with other Fox News hosts and contributors. Tucker Carlson, whose show is the most-watched on the network, has consistently cast doubt on the coronavirus vaccine’s safety and effectiveness. Hours before Cavuto begged viewers to take the vaccine, Fox contributor Lisa Boothe tweeted she was “doubling down” on declining the shots as a resistance to President Biden’s vaccine “tyranny.” Conservatives have spoken out against Biden’s vaccine requirements for federal employees and companies with more than 100 workers....

And we'll note as well that FOX has its own internal vaccine/testing mandate for all staff.

@blatham,

if Fox News is serious about convincing the holdouts to get the jab,
all they have to do is start calling it what it actually is --

the #TrumpVaccine

As you probably don't know, Trump Steaks were all implanted with microchips but this fact is being suppressed by the big meat corporations.

Truly excellent reporting on the organized effort by people around Trump along with extremist conservative individuals to overturn the last election It was not that far from succeeding. And it is what they are setting up to have as a standby option for future elections.

Sure, I am. Of course I am. But I’m not pretending that my venting is meant to be having some effect on presidents or congresspeople.
Like “I’m just saying this to push Joe Manchin into doing his job.”

I think that’s demented.

People who have to call others pollyannas and crumbsnatchers just for having a different perspective or approach aren’t helping a ******* thing.

@edgarblythe,
Perspective is what you lack.
You throw Obama and Hillary and Biden under the same bus as Republicans who have done far more damage and far less good.

There’s no sane reason to do that. Just flexing self-righteous bullshit.

Bill, Hillary, Barak, Biden, suck up your adulation while accomplishing diddly for citizens. In every case it's "Ooh, their hands are tied." No responsibility when things go bad. They are as much the reason for Trump as the Republicans.

The kind of accomplishments you hope to see would require a very liberal president, a very liberal (not Democratic) super-majority in Congress, and a very liberal electorate committed to major structural reform.

And if you study the US Constitution and the institutions of Congress you can see that there's plenty of rope there and it was placed there for a reason.

I could say the same about some elements within the progressive left.

@hightor,
Excuses excuses. Doing the people's work is not really a liberal thing. They just want us to think it is. It's strictly mainstream, as polls consistently show. But Biden says he would veto the kind of health care every major nation has. The polls show Americans want it. I'm not saying he's in a position to enact it, but he absolutely will not accept it. He promises $2,000 then give 1400. He promises some school loan debt relief. Then does nothing. He didn't fight to keep evictions from happening. He gave up on minimum wage the instant he met opposition. He could save the Post Office, but seems oblivious. You can lay into me for what I say, but the general public is not liking him right now, with approval in the 40s.

That's his strong suit, Edgar. NPDs see that as a character strength.

Glitter is the same. Birds of a feather, flock together.
