If progressives ever go through with their reparations nonsense, can I receive reparations if I "self identify" as a black person?

It's no worse than what progressives here direct at Mr. Trump and his family.

But aTulsa provides us with what could be a textbook example of how reparations could work in some cases. The white families and ancestors of the people who unleashed murder and hellfire on the black people of “Black Wall Street” are still here. The devastation to human life ; the destruction of property and land and businesses is still affecting the black Tulsans still there. There are even three actual survivors of the massacre - who saw the terror with their own eyes - still living.
Not only that, but there is a detailed contemporaneous record of the massacre. Blueprints of the destroyed buildings, financial records of the businesses razed, clear photographs of the crimes and of the people who committed them, records of insurance claims made by the black victims.
The city of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma sanctioned this crime. Why can’t the city and state pay the living ancestors (and especially the living survivors) a financial settlement?
The Republican politicians of Oklahoma have raised over THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS for the purpose of erecting some kind of memorial or series of memorials to the Tulsa massacre. But not one dime for the people who were robbed of generational wealth, crushed and forgotten.
Help me make some sense of that.
Not so many years ago, I was of the opinion that while reparations are an excellent idea, it would involve paying out a sum so staggering it couldn't be done. But once I learned that the government routinely wastes trillions of dollars, I realized only the will to do the right thing is missing. I don't have a head for figuring distribution and application, but there is no doubt it could be carried out.
@edgarblythe,
I now self identify as black.
I want my reparations. Everyone pay up.
@snood,
There was a guest contributor on Nicole Wallaces show who suggested that the insurance companies that refused to pay out on the legitimate policies could be a starting point. Collect from the insurance companies who enriched themselves from the sweat and tears and regularly paid premiums of the people and businesses that were destroyed. Those policy's still exist in the record books, and it wouldn't take a miracle to figure out which company bought the earlier policies and how they were unjustly enriched.
It's not the cure, but it could be a start.

His name is Jason Johnson. He’s a political science professor at Morgan State, a regular on MSNBC, and a writer for The Grio.
I agree with him 99% of the time.
@snood,
Thanks, I temporarily blanked on his name. He always brings a unique view to the discussion.
NYC homeless man accused of attacking Asian woman had been arrested 8 times in past year: top cop
Startling video shows Asian American victim, 55, being attacked in broad daylight
By Stephanie Pagones
A homeless man accused of attacking an Asian American woman during a broad daylight hate crime assault in New York City had been arrested at least 17 times prior, sources said Tuesday, as the Big Apple’s top cop slams the lenient treatment of repeat criminals for "putting New Yorkers at risk."
Alexander Wright, 48, was charged with assault as a hate crime, misdemeanor assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance – a synthetic form of marijuana called K2 – in connection with the Monday evening attack, a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson said Tuesday.
Video of the startling attack shows the 55-year-old victim walking in New York City’s Chinatown, in the area of Bayard and Mott streets, around 6:15 p.m. , according to officials. As she walks through what appears to be an outdoor eatery, the hooded Black man hits her in the face and she falls to the ground, the video shows.
Wright can then be heard saying something to a bystander and lingering in the area as witnesses rush over to the motionless victim.
New York State Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou shared video of the attack on Twitter and said the victim was conscious and alert.
Police were nearby at the time of the attack and quickly arrested Wright, who lives in a homeless shelter, authorities said.
Speaking to Spectrum NY1 on Tuesday morning, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea mentioned a previous incident, in which a 65-year-old Asian woman was pushed down the stairs of a New York City subway station on Friday.
"What's the common denominator?" he asked during the interview. "People that are arrested multiple, multiple, multiple times and released."
He called it "craziness" that someone who is arrested for committing a crime such as "pushing a woman down the stairs" could be released back onto the street.
Shea said Wright has been arrested eight times in the past year alone and has been accused of "randomly assaulting people" and "setting fires."
"We need help with some of these laws. We cannot be just chasing our tail, catch and release, catch and release," he continued. "What are we doing in society when we're releasing these people right back onto the street within a half-hour? … It’s putting New Yorkers at risk."
Bradford Betz contributed to this report.
Lo and behold, another black criminal is coming to town.
Such black showboats just want to use this to flaunt their maleness? That's why this black man slugged this woman in the face? Black power? Phew!
@oralloy,
Black Wall Street? Prince mentioned this part of history when he was being interviewed by the New Yorker. I'd hazard a view that Prince would have been appalled by BLM believers' stupidity and snobbery.
@edgarblythe,
It's old hat. If you are seeking damages, then go to the Middle East. It has been verified that the Arabs bought and sold black slaves from the outset, not white people.
@glitterbag,
IDK. I have never had a black gf. How many black gfs have you had?
@glitterbag,
Are you going to find a black gf for me? Don't bother. You are freaking me out. Oh, my Taylor Swift! It's dark outside. I need to get my torchlight.
@goldberg,
What is black gf? Who mentioned black gf? Nevermind, I got the answer I expected. Sadly it's not painful enough, it should be.....but it does thin the herd and brand a big brightly colored dunce cap on those that are still here.
Clifton Leaf, editor-in-chief of Fortune is leaving Fortune magazine. What a pity! He's white. I have a feeling that Fortune's management may be looking for a black editor to replace him. Could be either Ellen McGirt or Stephanie Mehta. Stephanie Mehta would be a good choice, not Ellen McGirt , who's a black liberal.
@goldberg,
You should submit your resume, even Fortune's management deserves a belly laugh now and then.
@glitterbag,
I thought you were asking me about being beaten up by a black girl. Did I speak amiss? You are overreacting.
@glitterbag,
Nope. You should give a try. Fortune appears to have become a liberal publication. I'm a centrist, not a cantankerous liberal.
