I don't know what you are proposing to try, Sturgis. I am part of an industry, and a team, that is struggling with these issues. Honestly, no one has a good answer to the basic problem.
1. There are a set of business practices that are based on human interactions and have been shown to be extremely effective. By "effective" I mean they produce things from the moon landing to browser you are using right to read this.
2. These business practices are very bad at creating diverse teams.
Now complication is that we need to be productive. That is the point of business. When we change practices that work, even for a noble reason, we risk ruining the practices that have evolved because they are productive.
