@Roberta,
Meds not helping at all? I was worried you were in hospital all this time. Not good places to be.

I wish I could help.

@roger,
You can actually BUY a carton of hard boiled eggs?

That’s beyond weird.

@Borat Sister,
Here's another bit of weirdness, due to differences in manufacturing, US eggs need to be stored in the fridge, but UK eggs don't.

@izzythepush,
How do you manufacture an egg differently? Are US chooks genetically altered or something? I thought it was the chooks who manufactured them? What do Americans do to their chickens?!?!

You don’t have to store australian eggs in the fridge either, but I do because I seldom eat eggs.

@Borat Sister,
I don't know exactly, but I think it's to do with how the eggs are cleaned.

This is part of a much longer article and seems to explain why.

Quote:
By 1970, the U.S. had perfected an egg washing system that was easy, effective and produced squeaky-clean eggs. The only catch was that, after washing, these eggs had to be refrigerated. The trade-off for beautifully spotless and bacteria-free eggs is that washing also removes a thin, filmy, protective outer layer called the cuticle. This cuticle is the magical natural shield that keeps bacteria out of an egg while letting oxygen circulate.

It’s also the reason for this discrepancy in the way eggs are handled around the world. Without a cuticle, eggs need to be kept cold—not for the product itself, but to discourage bacterial growth in and on it. Conversely, eggs with their protective layers intact are much less likely to be infected by salmonella—at least on the inside—and because of this they don’t need to be refrigerated.

@izzythepush,
Good grief

They wash something to make it bacteria free which gives it bacteria.

Mind you, chook pooh is a tad off putting on eggs, what with the chooks only having a cloaca and all, but there has to be a happy medium.

We must clean ours to some extent, because there’s seldom Pooh

I know what you mean. I have to be extremely careful cracking open some eggs.

More or less. They are packed in plastic packages. Two pack or six. If you want a dozen, you can buy as many packages as you want.

So yesterday I took the clock in the living room and put it back with other stuff i’m Going to pack.
That meant I just had my phone for the time.

Anyway I got to doing stuff, then watched a bit of tv. Started to get tired and decided to go to bed in a while, maybe another hour.

Looked at my phone expecting it to be 1 or 1:30.

It was 5am.

If I hadn’t looked, I would have been going to bed when most people are getting up.

@chai2,
Goodness! You were very into what you were doing.

Meanwhile, my air conditioner part finally got installed today! My wearable blankie hoodie got here too. I am as warm as warm. Hopefully won’t have too big an electric bill after all the heater use!

Also ordered some more masks on the assumption that my state has to have more covid cases coming, with two neighbouring states sadly having numerous active cases.

Boida....hoping you are having some effect from your meds?

@Borat Sister,
Here in Massachusetts, there's some anxiety about tourists. There are
relatively few cases and a lower rate of infection here and that's largely
because most locals seem to be following the protocols. But what happens
when visitors arrive from states where compliance is much lower?

@George,
Nothing good, I’ll warrant.

People from Victoria and New South Wales must go directly to quarantine here, IF allowed in.

Not really.
Most of the time, it's a glance at the clock that sends me to bed. Like at 2 or 2:30.
I guess if I don't have that cue, it's later.

Last night I made it a point to go to bed at 2:30, but only dozed. I was doing a lot of thinking, nothing bad, just thinking. I got up to go to the bathroom and I realized it was getting light out. Got back into bed and then fell asleep until 10:30am.

At this point, I feel like if I was forced to have an 8am appointment, I just wouldn't go to bed.

I was in the hospital from last Wednesday to today. Nothing to do with COVID. An exacerbation of COPD.

Still not well, but better than I was.

This breathing business is a pain in the ass.

I was concerned that you were there...better getting the medical help you need than not though.

I’m sorry you’re not feeling a lot better.

Anything interesting happen in hospital?
