@edgarblythe,
Talked with one of my neighbours about this on my walk home (he was well over the required 6' away). We've always seen fox, coyote, opossums, skunks, raccoons, deer in the area. He saw rabbits for the first time in a decade yesterday. We're expecting to see a lot more travel between the ravines as things are so quiet out there.

And porpoises and fish have returned to the formerly filthy canals of Venice!

@edgarblythe,
the wild turkeys have returned to the Chester County Parks. These parks, like the one in SW Chester County along the Lancaster County line always been full of the weekend runners . Now, theyve been holing up and the turkys are wandering about .They always travel in lines just like a gaggle of nuns going to vespers.

...feels like the city is "right-sized"...

That's how it seems here in NYC. Reminds me of the serenity the city had back in the past (50s and 60s). Before a zillion vehicles double and triple parked...even in crosswalks and no-parking zones.

Also less weirdos...

...never mind, just remembered, I saw my reflection in the window of a closed store.

Store had no friggin' peanut butter! NoT an egg in sight. Milk? If you want it powdered or perma-fresh (shelf-stable). Another place had milk.

Anyway, got t.p. and paper towels (4 rolls of each...apologies to Roberta) and some other things...no bread, which is fine.

On the news last night they were reporting from Italy. Things are pretty bad over there but the people have acted responsibly, there's been no panic buying and the shelves are all full.

Kudos for that at least.

No toilet paper at all when I went shopping. I had planned to buy some if I could for anyone in my community who is out or running really low, since there is no predicting when it will be there, but no such luck.

I’m getting cat litter delivered.

Cafes and such still fairly busy...I live in a tourist destination

Local pub is offering driveway food...you call ahead and use the liquor driveway. Very enterprising!

It’s cooler today so everyone is out and about and I should be doing useful things.

My state still has low numbers of cases and they are reopening mothballed hospital beds. Hopefully we might be a bit better resourced when the numbers hit.

I need to find a big novel to settle down with. I have a brain like a canary at the moment....always hopping about.

It’s anniversary time for all the awful stuff that happened at work and I’m back to nightmares and feeling stressed out all the time

Hopefully will pass soon.

@ehBeth,
Funny, because furniture stores are never really crowded in the first place.

There was me, one other guy, and the 2 men that worked there. I think one other person came in and out.

It was a scandinavian store. I've always wanted to furnish a room with that, and now is my time.

This house has 2 floors, and on the 2nd floor is a rather large loft. I'm thinking I'll put my current furniture, TV and desk and computer up there. That'll keep all the wifi stuff in a close range.

On the first floor, the dream room.
Which coffee table do you like best? They're all about the same size across.
The first floor is very light and open, so the dark furniture won't be gloomy. Especially with colorful throws and pillows.

@chai2,
very Ikea-like eh
I overall like the clean lines
I'm not a fan of furniture with fussy designs. I like mission straight lines or 1920's art nouveau smooth curves. Modern Scandinavian designs seem to carry both lineages.

I like the middle table for the mcm lines, but the top one would be more practical for me - I could put closed containers with my craft crap on the bottom and tea mug and reading stuff on top. Maybe a decorative box as well.

If I had a cat, I suspect it would like the top one as it has levels of playfulness.

@chai2,
I like number 2 but you probably should get number 1 because you never have too much storage space.

they've been closed not because they're busy but because they are not considered essential services and non-essential travel has in effect been banned. looks (per twitter) like things are just starting to change in Texas. It was one of the last states to take strong measures. Also noticed that a lot of department stores across US have now closed down/are closing down. About bloody time.

I just watched 5 minutes of the Kardashians to see why it exists

I’m stunned.

I’m watching A Very English Scandal. I can’t believe I forgot this entire event!

@ehBeth,
Ha! Beth, I wish they were IKEA prices.

Really though, I'm glad they're not. I don't want IKEA quality.

Mid century modern? Yes. I love it.

After looking at what items I posted in a row, I'm thinking the clear glass table, first because even with colorful accents I think it would be too matchy matchy with the darky darky.

But strangely enough Beth & Deb, related to your comments about storage.

I am literally sick to death of things, objects, possessions, consuming.

Yeah I am going to get new furniture and accents, but it really has a lot to do with the environment I want to live in. It's my opportunity to build my own little haven where there is no clutter, nothing extra just because that space must be filled. Less is more.

Yeah, I'm going to put my current main pieces of furniture in the loft area of the 2nd floor. That'll be where I watch TV for a couple hours, sell my ebay stuff, and that's about it.
The rest of my home time will be spent in austere beauty. I so look forward to it.

And honestly? There is so much built in storage space in the house, I think it's obscene. When viewing the house, every time I turned around, opened the door I was like "ANOTHER closet? MORE Elfa shelves? I guess these people had at least one kid, because child safety thingies in the kitchen cabinets. So I suppose they felt justified in having places to put their stuff, close the door, and forget they even own it.

While I respect when others want to keep a lot (at least a lot to me) of belongings, and need storage etc. I can't live like that. Not anymore.

New start, clean start, no storage needed start.
