@Linkat,
Yes. I have kindles so I can’t do that on them. I’m trying to figure out if there’s an app I can download. On kobo you can do it.

This stuff is startin' to get to me. I'm watching a movie, and I keep thinking things such as "Why are all those idiots standing so close together," or "My god, wash your hands before you touch that stuff." I need to take a week off on another planet.

I get that. Very Happy

Do you ever watch a movie set in pre cell phone days, and you keep thinking "Why doesn't she just CALL them?"
"Whaddaya mean you're lost? Uh, google maps?

Can you imagine if Ghenghis Khan or Hannibal had iphones?

Today when I went out in my car I encounted THREE ambulances/firetrucks/accidents.

One within a mile of my house. Must have been a car fire based on the clean up going on. No cars there but firetruck was there.

One about 1.5 miles further. Right in Front of the Hosptal! Those of us famililar with the area were cutting through the front entrance of the hospital to go around. The EMT's was still getting someone into the back of the ambulance. They were literally within 300 yards of the entrance.

Then, later, a fire truck coming from the opposite direction. Where I pulled over was almost right across the street where the car fire had been.

@chai2,
Yes. One book for our book group. I assume there’s a night return hatch.

This is the group where some people were insisting on meeting up and refusing to consider virtual options last week.

I was the one who said I believed it breached guidelines and I wouldn’t be going and asked if people wanted to consider Skype or zoom.

I’m just sitting back now and waiting. The meeting was supposed to be 20th April.

What would you say are the ages of those resistant to skyping, etc?

I wonder if there is one person that if you cracked/persuaded that one, the others would suddenly be agreeable.

Could it be that one or more actually doesn't know what all this means, and just don't want to look foolish by admitting it?

I know I've had things in life that I thought were above my head, and suddenly, one little thing made it all click.

Kirk for example. For years he simply could not understand what I was telling him how this computer and internet thing worked. I even made and printed out a step by step powerpoint tutorial for him. Nope.

Then, (years ago now) when he got a cell phone, it was as if he had a revelation. With just a few days he was googling, texting, watching videos, emailing etc etc.
Funny, we would be watching a movie on TV, and he'd suddenly start reading to me something about one of the actors, which he looked up while watching the show.

Never brought it up with him, but I suspect he felt in control of this phone in his hand. Like he knew what a phone did, and it was just a natural extension of it being the conduit to perform other things.

Just an idea.

@chai2,
Definitely older age group

Some would think that phone emissions are very dangerous

Also they eschew Facebook re data mining and surveillance

Generally just anti technology I guess.

I’m wondering if there will be a shift as this drags on

Oh for the love of Mike.

Tell them if they have their tin foil hats on, there's no hazard. Surprised

Yes, I’ve been thinking of you and how on earth you could tell.

You certainly don’t want to be going near a hospital if you can possibly avoid it.

I’m sad to say Dodi has just been diagnosed with another breast cancer.

She’s having another biopsy and then her surgeon is rushing her in to get the surgery done before the private hospitals are co-opted for covid

From what I can make out, she’s in the stage where there’s a good prognosis, but she doesn’t ask the right questions!

I won’t be able to visit of course.

I’m not sure if her husband can!

Basically, bunny, I can't tell. I keep checking my temp.

I'm sorry to hear about Dodi. Please send her my best wishes. A good kid if ever there was one.

Joe is restocking my Kindle. He'll drop it off later. Another good kid.

I finished the bio of Mickey Mantle. Now I'm reading one of Joe DiMaggio. Great athletic talent doesn't necessarily result in good people. This does not apply to Lou Gerhig. I read his bio too. A good guy and a great talent. Fortunately for me, Joe is a Yankees fan, so he has all these books, some on Kindle, some in actual book form. I haven't read about the Babe. Not sure I want to.

I guess we'll be missing baseball this year if things continue on.

Insert dirty words of your choice.

Ahhhh, thank goodness, found you all here! Sending good wishes out to one and all... not that that's of any help but good see the oldies and goodies still here... and yes, I'm and oldie. Keep safe lovelies, frikken scary crahp and I'm not liking it and it's gut wrenching.

My friend just lost her Dad, Mom's exposed and they can't even hug her. He contracted it from a health professional... simply heartbreaking for everyone. The health professionals, social care, delivery drivers, bin men, volunteers are all incredible here... community spirit is high.

Be safe, stay home, save lives. x

@roger,
As if I'd forget any of those who kept me afloat 😊 and stopped me toppling over. It's time like these where we we just don't know what's gonna happen next and we're a weird and wonderful A2K family, so we gotta keep each other's back so no-ones ever alone.

Plus you're my favourite rat 😘

Keep safe xx
