Fire-free and damp in Sydney - I wish it would rain properly - and fill the dams, so we can ease water restrictions!

I've just returned from Melbourne, where it was bloody hot on the day we arrived, and poor Olga volunteered to collect us, and then much cooler, thankfully, the other days - but a minor smoky haze about.

How's it in Adelaide today, Deb? An improvement, I hope? ... particularly on Kangaroo Island, obviously.

Very hazy, extremely hot & windy in Melbourne today & even hotter in other parts of the state. Things are getting very serious with all these bushfires raging in different parts of Victoria. Today doesn't feel good at all. We don't need this extreme weather right now. Sad

Yep, awful. I can't watch some news clips on television any more. Like: 70 thousand sheep burnt alive, penned against fences & unable to escape. And the destruction & suffering of wildlife. It's heartbreaking. Of course, I feel for people caught up in the fires, but the plight of helpless animals who can't escape is just terrible. Sad

It is indeed.

My hope is the poor things suffocate first.

Or die very fast.

The WORST is when they live, and people cannot get back fast to shoot the poor things, because the fires are still too fierce to get through.

Hmmmmm...

I'm not around much these days, anywhere. Nipped down to Melbourne for a cuppla days for the tennis (or as much as the nipping required a 90 minute flight and expensive hotel room at premium price!)

Caught up with MsOlga briefly - but failed to get her to consume large amounts of alcohol (and it was certainly the weather for it!)

Yes, we caught up again, Deb. (Which leads me to the perennial question ................ )

& margo & Len were so helpful in helping me negotiate our way out of Tullamarine airport! ... the stuff-up at the ticket machine, the entry & exit points, the ....

But are we downhearted? Not us!

Hiya Oz!

Scotland play Wales at rugby in Cardiff today, so wish us well- we'll need a little bit of luck.

The required luck was not forthcoming. We had our best forward sent off early on, and lost. Boo-hoo.
