Allergy Test

Each time I had the tests done, they would declare me allergic to new things. I had ten years of desensitization shots as a kid. My allergies kept changing. At one time or another, I've tested positive for allergies to cat/dog/horse dander, house dust, dust mites, ragweed pollen, mold, several kinds of grass, and a lot of others I've forgotten.

Anyway, my asthma is under control now with Singulair and Advair, with occasional need for an albuterol inhaler. Used to go the ER several times a year, and haven't been in nearly 10 years now! (knocking on wood)

Totally forgot to update...

The good news: I am only slightly allergic to trees and pollen.

The bad news: I am pretty severly allergic to dust mites. The one thing I just can't get away from.

Sigh. We have down pillows, a down comforter and a pillow top matterss. I have to find covers for everything. Sucks.

OTher than that, the test was ok. They did about 50-60 on my back and then 20 injections of the really potent allergen on my arms. Life wasn't too bad except for the giant itch that came from the place the put the control (histamine) to make sure I didn't have any meds in my system.

Did they also tell you to get rid of all floor and window coverings? Confused I know mrs. hamburger found that prohibition quite difficult to deal with.

Sounds like you coped very nicely with the tests - now to deal with the results. Dust mites. Man, they're everywhere!

Oh yeah, that too. Get rid of my rugs. Get a vacuum with a hepa filter and vacuum a few times a week. Also when cleaning wear goggles and a face mask! Isn't that a funny picture!

i dont know how true this is, BUT
someone told me one time that they used silk pillowcases,
sheets and found a silk bed spread. That helped them with thier dust allery because apparently silk doesnt hold dust as well? Confused
Im still not sure how I feel about the validity of that claim, BUT ?? it might work?
and everyone loves silk . :-)

That's not a horrid price for silk sheets. Really.

I'll have to see what Dreams Downy Duvets has on offer - they've got the best prices on 400+ thread count cotton.

i have never been able to afford such a lavish purchase before in my LIFE.
I told mr wolf about them and he was shocked that I would even CONSIDER buying them.

Then he turned around and said, " Anything that falls into that basket in the next few minutes , I will say nothing about"

then we checked out. :-)
