Japan has been ahead of the West in robotics for decades, but their latest contribution is really spooky - sorry can't repost pic from this computer but this is the link:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/06/0610_050610_robot.html

"She" as currently manufactured is Japanese, but looks, sounds, and even feels like the original Stepford wives in the eponymous book!

HofT, Wow. That's a real 'step' forward (so to speak) for the world of robotics. Interesting.

Looks "real" to me! Hope you're enjoying your trip! Just got home two days ago and getting ready to go again! 3 grandkids graduating this week! 1 from Jr. High, 2 from high school! that makes 4 from high school, 1 from college, 1 from Jr.HS! They got old before me! Happy father's day in advance, guys! And to you Moms that double as "both"!

You my friend have a very "wired" sense of humor.

Thanks to the link given by HofT, I accessed the National Geographic News site and found an article of special interest, about the moa bird of New Zealand, whose slow growth contributed to its extinction:

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/06/0615_050615_moa.html

Another of several factors in its extinction was hunting by the native people, the Maori. This is an example of something I mentioned on the Rainforest thread a while back, that in certain instances the native people contributed to the extinction of a species.

Thanks, danon.
I will certainly convey your greetings to hamburger.
You two have something very particular in common - your love of Vienna!

~~~~~~~
The dogs are already excited - Cleo got to speak to Opa on the phone tonight, in preparation for tomorrow's trip.
Is anyone surprised that the dogs have more luggage than I do?
Eye drops. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Ear drops. Bandannas. Crate. Towels. Piggies. Brushes. Combs. De-tanglers. Treats. Oral Care Food. Two full sets of leashes for each. Sheepskin. Shocked Bottled water and bowls for the drive (it's only about 3 hours).
