Just announced via press conference, the mods in the Senate agree to avoid the nuclear option.
Bush probably has a headache, but Frist has lost a career.
I had no doubt they would push the big NO. Oh, well, win one lose a bunch . . .
McCain (in the press conference) used the neo-con no no words "trust" and "compromise" what in the world is the Senate coming to? it no longer looks like the House!
Too bad you see it that way.
I think it was one of the best things the GOP has done.
It actually showed that the SOBs can work together.
It wasn't just a GOP concession.
The Dems will stop blocking all the judges.
They're letting...how many through now?
And, the GOP can still take them down if they don't keep their word.
I see no comproise here at all. Just a lot of pussy bullshit. Disgusting.
so we now get down to winners and losers out this mess.
winners are McCain
losers are the Dem Party, Frist, Dobson, the right wing of the rep party and Reed.
neutral is Bush
If they don't put a stop to filibusters and the Dems at the same time stop filibustering, I see it as a further retreat.

wouldn't bland be a better word?
Owen, Brown and Pryor are in and the Dems have promised not to filibuster Supreme Court nominees 'except in extradordinary circumstances'.
The Dems caved.
well at least the dems blinked while Frist had his eyes put out.
I really think...IF THEY ALL DO WHAT THEY SAID (and that's a mighty big IF), they have finally done a good day's work. The incessant filibustering was screwing the entire process--but the Constitutional Option was, IMO, a very bad choice.
They may have deep sixed two really sucky things.
This stupid hateful rancor has got to go.
If the stupid hateful rancor has to go, the Repubs need to allow filibusters and the Dems need to block the targeted judges, as is the way of business in these matters.
The way of business is to flex power.
If that were done, the minority would have....nothing.
The Dems will not be allowed to stack the court with judges from one side of the political spectrum.
Ain't gonna happen.
Should prove to be interesting, I quite imagine Bush will get Scalia as the next Chief but who knows about his replacement on the court. The ball's in Bush's court on that I assume. In the meantime Frist can count on having lost his bid for the Rep nomination, McCain is another story to be told.
McCain is about the only Republican in the current herd for whom i would be willing to vote. The man has integrity, which is just about a once in a century event in either political party.
