What did Helen Keller do when she fell down a well?
Screamed her hands off.
How did Helen Keller burn the side of her face?
She answered the iron.
How did she burn the other side of her face?
They called back.
What did her parents do to punish her?
Moved the furniture.
Why was she able to masturbate with only one hand?
She needed the other hand to moan.
I suppose a few people are waiting for me to not like these jokes. Sure, I don't.
Let me ask you, then, lambchop, why you do you find these comments funny?
Why would you suppose that anyone had you in mind when this thread was started?
I don't suppose anyone had me in mind, Set. Go ahead and find them funny. I laugh at myself daily. I am not quite so delighted when the oblivious laugh at others.
Ah, well. You and nimh can just go ahead and rail.
Let it roll.
I am, by the way, not censoring, should anyone care. I express that I don't think HKs are funny. Apparently my not thinking something is funny is one of the worst possible things one can say on a2k, worthy of the worthiest folks censure. Go ahead, enjoy your largesse.
There is none so blind as those who find humour in the misfortunes of others.
It's complicated, Intrepid - at least two of us here are failing in sight and hearing and are smiting each other re our opinions. I'll take dark remarks from my own mind and pals, but not so easily from others to others. But the seat of humor is dark and I know that, so I am really not so much in censure as I am inquiring what motivates Lambchop -
A great deal of humor, most of it, i would assert, is based upon the misfortune of others.
Hmmm... I dunno...I've seen some jokes on other threads in this forum that I don't particularly like either...but I've never found it necessary to deliver any self-righteous smackdown to the people on those threads.
I think it states pretty clearly that there may be some jokes on the Humor forum that you might find offensive -- and that you enter at your own risk. What part of that did you not understand?
I agree. Humor edges to cruelty sometimes, especially when it is unhoned as to context. And sometimes cruelty is appropriate. I repeat that I am not any kind of censor. I am looking at the apparent pleasure of a newbie's post re a person's frailty to a rather large thus inclusive forum.
I have removed the offensive reference to Hawthorne's novel. It was an unwarranted remark, and i apologize for it.
My opinion of your response to this thread remains unchanged.
There are all kinds of frailty, ossobucco, besides just the physical kind.
But you're entitled to your opinion. Maybe it's a good thing we had this little chat. Maybe we should just go our separate ways on this forum.
Have a nice life!
What didn't I understand? I guess I don't get the pulse of excitement that comes from the big dump on the frail, especially as a starter post in HUMOR. WAIT, I don't mean to sound that selfrighteous. I simply mean that I don't get it.
Tell me again what is funny....
Actually, I know what is the source of funny, it is fear. And even our arguing is based on stances on fear, at any given time.
I'd just been wondering if anyone else would have caught that.
Truth is, I'd not noticed this was under Humor - I would have let it sit if I had.
BTW, thank you for your support, Setanta. The last thing I wanted to do was upset anyone, and I think you understand me.
All right, lamb chop, you have a nice life too.
