Bisexual would suggest that a person is attracted to both sexes. Therefore they would be both hetero- and homosexual, yes?

Again, not half-homosexual.

Oh, you're invited to share your definition of half-homosexual, McG. Go ahead. The audience is listening.

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

I don't have a definition. That's the point. Do you have a definition you'd like to share?

First, tell us how it feels to be halfway hetero.

McG, you said

McGentrix wrote:
Well, consider the fact that you are either a homosexual or you are not. I was not aware that degrees of homosexuality existed. Are you suggesting that some people are only half gay?

Wait. Again.

consider the fact that you are either a homosexual or you are not

Obviously not true. You can be bisexual, so you are neither heterosexual nor homosexual. Or both. Whatever you prefer. Nevertheless, you statement has obviously some major flaws.

Do you concur?

No, I do not concur. A heterosexual is not a homosexual. A bisexual is a homosexual. A homosexual is a homosexual.

You either are a homosexual, or you are not.

Which part of this are you not understanding?

Oh, you are talking about you like in "me, McGentrix"? I wasn't aware of that. Well, of course every individual person has a different sexual orientation.

Take skin pigmentation. I can be black. Then, I wouldn't be white. I can be white. Then, I wouldn't be black. But possible are all nuances in between.

What makes you assume that the same thing can't be true for sexual orientation?

Then you, Old Europe, are partly homosexual? Is that what you are suggesting?

I could be. You could be. Chrissee could be.

If you're more comfortable with stating "I'm Heterosexual, and proud to be so", go ahead.

I was trying to find out how this thread really started... Trupolitik said 'It seems to be the leading opinion among most liberals, that being "Gay" is something that someone is born with'

I don't know. Should we discuss this, or rather talk about "Man, look just how hetero I am!"

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

The discussion revolves around a recent court case in which sperm donors were asked their sexual orientation.

The reason for doing so is that many believe that homosexuality is an inherited or genetic trait. That has led us to this discussion.

That is what I have been discussing. I am a heterosexual. I not the least bit sexually attracted to the same sex. I believe that the trait for homosexuality is an inherited one, not a learned one and therefore a mother to be should know the sexual orientation of a potential father just as they know the race, age and history.

Well, that's why I've offered another example. Did Einstein's parents teach him to be a genius? Or did Stephen Hawking's parents just have the right genes? Is intelligence a 'genetic trait', or is it a 'learned trait'?

And, is it really a question of belief? Have any "gay genes" been found ("lesbian genes", for that matter)? A quick search gives you a lot of contradicting answers.

All of them claim to have scientific proof on their side. Here's the one Trupolitik provided:

Is There a "Gay Gene"?

And here's one with the same title, claiming the opposite:

Is There a "Gay Gene"?

Go figure. As long as there is no conclusive proof, I'm opposed to revealing a sperm donor's sexual orientation. In case scientists might eventually come up with conclusive proof, I might have to rethink my position.

Talking about positions: It's okay that you're not the least bit sexually attracted to the same sex. It really is.
