Congrats from this quarter, too, jp. How sweet it would be to see an AL Championship with the White Sox vs. Angels. Refreshing, as well...

dammit!

well, i can't say anything bad about the caucasian sox -- they play the game the way it was meant to be played.

i thought damon checked his swing in the 6th -- that would've tied (and possibly changed the entire complexion of) the game.

guillen was really working the homeplate ump -- how did he not get tossed?

oritz & manny flashed some power, but the rest of the lineup was oddly quiet for an elimination game...

I concurr about Damien. But one play doesn't turn a series around.Look for a mass exodus out of Boston this winter.

For sure. We made it past the first round.

I'm excited... yet cautious...

No matter what happens at this point, it has been one heck of an exciting season.

White Sox made me angry yesterday.

Was that "small-ball" or "let's give free outs wholesale"?

If the Angels hadn't played true small-ball the game would be have been a Billy Beane Lesson on Why Traditional Baseball Tactics Suck.

The Angels out performed the Sox with yesterday.

The Sox only got (i think) 2 lead off hitters on the whole game and then couldn't execute their style of get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in, baseball that has brought them this far. They gave up so many chances it made me sick. They were starting to hit Byrd and just couldn't finish him off.

Was it the 8th when they got the lead off man on and then Rowand showed bunt to early and Figgins snuck up, grabbed the bunt and threw out the runner at second and almost turned the double play... what a waste of an out and a good pitching performance by Conteras.

I'm not worried though. The Angels pitching staff is beaten up. I don't think they can last a 7 game series. i actaully wouldn't mind seeing a couple of long extra inning games. The Sox arms are rested and can afford a few extra innings.

The game was a bit painful to watch last night but I agree the Angels are beat up, they don't even know who they are going to have pitch tonight.

From what I heard it will be a starter with a 102 degree fever or a rookie with two games under his belt.

I was on the Oregon Coast Sunday-Monday, so I missed the Braves fiasco on Sunday. Nice to see NYY's season is over; heads will roll.

Now...what's the smart money saying about the likely World Series match-up?

I don't have any smart money, but I say Sox-Cards.

Before the play-offs started I predicted a Yanks-Cards series with the Yanks coming out of a Yanks-Boston ALCS series so you can see how far off I was in the AL right from the beginning.

the AL won the all-staah game, right?
so they'll have home-field advantage...

Yes, it's hard to imagine a ALCS with neither Red Sox or NYY. But very cool! When was the last time, I wonder, that two other teams played in the ALCS.

I definitely predict the Cards will win the NL; I'm just not sure about the AL. Angels's pitching seems really beat up, but they gained the home field advantage last night...

Thanks, RP. I get so sick of NYY that I can only remember their being in the final series each year...
