It would be totally lost on you, ci, because you are guilty of the same hypocrisy as Setanta.

Do you want to do a little test to see who answers questions and who doesn't, ci?

@wandeljw,
The scientific community is so out of touch with reality that "consensus" itself passes for a religion. Religion is men telling each other what to do. A religion can be anything. It is possible to have more than one religion per person.

A theory is defined in the scientific method as a possible explanation for something that has been observed, AFTER it has been tested. People tend to forget that there have been no tests in this topic, and in fact no tests are possible. The proper term is either hypothesis, based on an observation, or speculation, totally made up.

@Jewels Vern,
As a matter of fact there are tests possiiible and evo has passed. Tiktalik was one. The discovery and wide use of dna in a variiety of evo ways was another.

The OP is "Intelligent Design Theory: Science or Religion?" Science is the what we humans rely on to seek truth and facts. What "consensus passes for a religion?"

sci·ence
/ˈsīəns/
Learn to pronounce
noun
the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
"the world of science and technology"
synonyms: branch of knowledge, body of knowledge/information/facts, area of study, discipline, field
"the science of criminology"
a particular area of science.
plural noun: sciences
"veterinary science"
a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject.
"the science of criminology"
I don't see anything about "religion" here. The very definition of science is to continue seeking knowledge to the best of our abilities. It's not static like religion.

@cicerone imposter,
There is science and then there is science. The two resemble each other only slightly.

Science is anything that can be measured. Spirit is anything that can not be measured. Spiritual matters are not proven by logic. Science is proven by logic. No connection.

Then we have science, where you are commanded to believe things because some person claims to have that authority over you. That is the definition of religion.

Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

"Delivered unto me," get it? Satan is the god of wordly authority. That is why we are commanded to believe lies in the name of science, instead of being offered measurements and observations.

@cicerone imposter,
Go talk to any biologist and ask what proofs have been found to support evolution. The best you can hope for is that he/she only insults you. Go to any astronomer and ask why if the sun is powered by fusion the outside is hotter than the inside. Astronomers tend to have better manners than biologists, but you still will not get a scientific answer.

You think otherwise? Here is a forum provided for people to discuss astronomy pictures published by NASA. Notice rule 15: discussion of alternative theories, the definition of science, is specifically forbidden.

As late as 1980 there were still people who insisted that stones did not fall from the sky. Up until late 1990s archaeologists would not dig past the 9,000 year level because it was forbidden to find anything older than that in the Americas. Most people now think washing hands is rather important for a doctor, but that is only because all the doctors who considered hand washing to be junk science died.

There is no controversy between religion and science. The controversies are all between rightness and authority. God is the God of rightness. Satan is the god of this world, offering authority to any who work with him.

@Jewels Vern,
The problem with "internet popular cience" is that it doesnt require any skill, training, or expeienc. What you ssert tht cintit would y is totl crp nd youve just mse it up or copied it from some Alx Jones style blog.
If you doint take time to learn a craft, youre not able to speak intelligently or even hve a emi-lucid opinion about it.
As has been said over and over and over to your ilk, EVOLUTIONARY SCIENCES DONT SHOOT FOR PROOFS , THEY SEEK TESTABLE EVIDENCE

I just went through a rather painful operation on a pre-melanoma(and making sure they "dig it all out" is really the only way to cure you). My entire life has been one of pretty much "wide open shirted and in the sun".
