So if you're trying to slip something by a customer in the fine print, you shouldn't look for a sucker -- you should look for a wanker.

I heard its says somewhere in the bible that you are not suppose to masterbate because it leads to perversion. Very Happy

Perversion is in the eye of the beholder.

The whole history of the Catholic Church and sexuality is -- and this is not a pub -- screwed up.

While opposing abortion on the one hand, the church has also opposed all forms of birth control, favoring abstinence. Yet, when the child abuse by members of the clergy began to surface within the church, the church surpressed the information, rather than making it public, so as to protect other children from abuse.

I think it was Dyslexia who said that it is unrealistic to compare anything to some ideal rather than to see and evaluate it on its own terms (his anti-Aristotilean position). In that sense, everything is its own criterion. Or as Voltaire's Dr. Pangloss would put it, this is--in Dyslexia's sense--the best of all possible worlds. I think Krishnamurti and zen buddhism would agree.
Instead of asking if masturbation is "evil", is it not more realistic (if naive now-a-days) to ask if it is good or bad for us as individuals or as a species? Regarding the former, it has helped many people get by and regarding the latter, I read somewhere that masturbation is so widespread among higher primates because it promotes verility: it increases the sperm count

Plainoldme, I have a good example of your principle that perversion is in the eye of the beholder.
I used to have a friend--a real cut up--who boasted that he could spot a "homo" a mile away. He was always identifying various individuals as gay. One day I challenged him with the question: You say you can always tell if someone is gay. I challenge you to tell me HOW you do that.
He answered: "By the sensation he engenders in my loins." Laughing

Hi
Allright guys, let's try this :

Does any of us want to be caught masturbating himself? Do we usually do it unbeknown of the others?

adomi, of course not. It's a very PRIVATE thing. That doesn't make it evil or perverted. I don't like to be watched when I'm defecating or picking my nose either...not that I ever do either, of course.

There is a funny book of cartoons illustrating how to have sex in public. Of course, the author meant with a partner and the public wasn't that public. The only one I remember was of two pair of feet sticking out from under a car.

My ex-husband had obsessive compulsive disorder, is Mormon, and has never masterbated. His OCD is mostly about unexceptable sexual thoughts - maybe he should have and it wouldn't be such a big deal!

too many religions waste too much time preaching against masturbation, which can be a great safety valve. Religions don't understand safety.

Shaw is wrong, "anything about sex"? Knowing your pennis is also a knowledge of sex, why shouldn't the pope know about it?

They couldnt make a hell big enough to house everybody whose ever masturbated. That kind of guilt isnt healthy and I think I read somewhere Its not healthy not to masturbate for an extended period of time either.God made you human be human and be humane to others I think god Will be happy with you
