As a man, and therefore a potential rapist, I must object to that. Obviously I have never been raped, and I don't really know anyone that has, but that does not mean that I have no insight into what goes through a man's head when he rapes someone. It seems obvious to me that men rape for reasons of power and control. But it seems even more obvious to me that sexual appetite comes into it. I think we need to remember what rape is - forced sex. Yes?
Rape IS sex! I don't doubt that the rapist is 'turned on by the power they hold over the person they are raping' - but that is still sexual appetite! If power and control gives me a hard-on, I have a sexual appetite for power and control. Maybe sexual appetite for the actual person being raped doesn't actually come into it (I think it certainly does most of the time, but it's open to debate), but it's ridiculous to deny that rape is a sexual act and that rapists are acting on their sexual appetite for something - be it power, control, boobs, or whatever.
