Facebook is the basic town square of the planet at this point. That is not at all the same thing as a private business. In the same manner, the first and second national banks of the United States were privately owned and the present Federal Reserve amounts to a consortium of private large banks, but they were and are expected to serve the nations interests.
Banning somebody from Facebook for political reasons is basically a civil rights violation, as were he instances of black people being banned from restaurants and other commercial establishments during the first five or six decades of the last century. Those businesses were also private but they were practicing civil rights violations and they were properly called to task for it.
In the case of Alex Jones, some 26 internet infrastructure companies including paypal and visa have banned the guy for political purposes. That is plainly unacceptable.
