let's talk match ups reeg. Dirk against shaq...who's better?

let's see...

shaq is the most dominant center in the game today.
he can get to the basket whenever he wants, and no one (except big ben that one time!) can stop him from rocking the basket support.
he still intimidates point guards under the basket, but his rebounding numbers are down this year.

dirk is a 7-foot power forward who can shoot lights out and rebound.
dallas can't afford to lose him, so i guess he's more valuable to his team than shaq is to his.

the heat could still compete without shaq, because they have mourning and walker.

verdict: shaq's still better, but dirk's gaining ground...

I love it. New blood. I think I'll be rooting for Zo to get a ring this year.

Yeah. New blood. Shaq and Pat Riley only have thirty-seven rings between them. And Gary Payton, there's a young guy. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, you're right. Those three guys make up the whole team. And Payton has like a MILLION rings, doesn't he? Either that or NONE. And Dwyane Wade is practically a senior citizen.

Yes, you've made a great case there. It would definitely be better to see the same stupid team in the finals three years in a row. Rolling Eyes

I do agree with you about Cuban though. Or as I call him, Superdork.

I think Dallas will probably whoop their asses, but I really would like to see Alonzo Mourning finally get a championship ring.

I concur, dude. It would be better to see the same team in the finals three years in a row, if it's the Pistons. Do I have to come out and say that Walker, Mourning, and Williams are no spring chickens either? I mean they ain't ANCIENT, but...ah who cares?

It's just my opinion, but there's something more appealing about an actual TEAM made up of former nobodies that gelled into something great (Pistons), than the product of a Pat Riley shopping spree (Heat).

I do like Wade though. He's the anti-Kobe, and a lot of fun to watch. The Heat and Dallas are the best this year, and it will be a great series.

I was really talking about new blood in the sense of having a new team in there that had never been there before. Not so much the ages of the players. I do see what you mean about Shaq and Riley. But I have to admit, seeing, that rollie-eye emoticon triggers some pavlovian anger in me for some reason, and I immediately go on the offensive when I see it. Isn't that stupid? Oh well. Sorry.

I like Wade too. I am kind of ambivalent about Shaq. Riley, I don't really like so much. I think Dallas has more weapons than Miami. I sort of feel like Dallas is the better team overall.

I have this tiny fear that Dallas is going to just beat their asses. I hope not. I wanna see some good games!

I have no reason to watch anymore. I couldn't care less who wins now.

The eye roll affects me similarly. I must have been on some bad drugs when I added it.

If that's true, I think Momma Angel needs therapy for codependency with an abuser.

I say the Mavs in 6 - any takers?

Nothin repressed about my shaq-animus. It's a long story, starting from when I met him in 1991, before he signed with Orlando.
