American Idol

I was looking for a thread on the American Idol. I didn't see one . . .

The contestants tonight are all doing a good job. Paula is giving Simon kisses . . . they seem especially "affectionate" tonight compared to usual.

I don't vote, but if I did . . . I think I would have a hard time choosing.

I really wanted to try out for American Idol, but my family made fun of me to much.

mikalah
I think Mikalah Gordon will go tonight.

Mikalah's vocal talent comes across as 25 percent Barbra Streisand and 75 percent Fran Drescher (the Nanny).

Scott Savol has a good voice, but I don't like his insolent eye rolls upon hearing the slightest amount of criticism. He seems to have a big chip on his shoulder with respect to his own appearance -- if that makes any sense. His choice of song / performance last night came across as a dramatic plea for people to take a good look at him and accept him just for who he is: toss off cap revealing closely-shaved head; toss of glasses revealing squinty eyes in need of glasses. Perhaps I am wrong, but I think he truly needs to accept himself because his appearance doesn't bother me at all . . . but his attitude does.

I think Carrie Underwood is a good singer just like the rest of the contestants are good singers. I don't understand why Simon predicted that SHE would win the competitition and go on to do better than any previous winner. Sure . . . she is better looking than Scott Savol . . . but does she really offer that much more with respect to vocal talent?

I just really have lots of good things to say about the rest of the contestants . . . lots of talent on the stage last night. I think Anwar Robinson will suffer the same fate as LaToya London last season . . . being a consistently wonderful vocalist . . . but having too much maturity to capture the votes of the young crowd.

My honey has predicted that Carrie Underwood (for sure) and Bo Bice or Nadia Turner will be the FINAL TWO. Who do you think will make it to the finals?

I think Vonzelle never gets enough credit. She is consistently excellent and has a great voice. Last night she was awesome! But the judges just keep telling her she has to do something great. Well, nobody else has done anything great.

Carrie Underwood is just ok for me (to quote Randy). I don't see what the appeal is. As for Nadia Turner, I like her, but she is mostly all performer and not so much singer.

I like Vonzelle too. Smile

She did an amazing job last night. Her vocals were perfect; her stage presence was memorable. I think she has the ability to pull herself ahead of the pack.

I just read on cbsnew.com that the phone numbers given last night for voting were displayed incorrectly . . . so there must be a revote.

Carrie is too main stream for my tastes. I like Nadia, both her style and her voice. I agree with Debra about Makaliah, she needs voice training. And what is with her lips? - collagen?

Scott just looks like a white supremacist to me, I know that's not PC, but he just has facial expressions that look mean and judgemental. I prefer not to watch him when he sings. I think Bice and Anwar have real talent, but I think Anwar will be gone before the very end. Bice is a wildcard in my opinion, as is Vonzelle. Constantine has the teeny bopper vote.

By way Debra, you are great at keeping track of who's who's on the Realty Shows. I tend to describe them by their traits. I kept peeking at your post to get the names straight here. Thanks.

I don't really follow music careers, but did Kelly Clarkson ever have another hit? I never seem to hear about her or the runner up Justin. Is she a one hit wonder?

Actually, Kelly Clarkson has some very good songs out right now, IMO. They are leaning more grunge-rock in style and away from the pop-love-song formats and it really suits her. I'm actually thinking of buying her cd. One is called "Since you've been gone" and there's another one that I'll think of in a minute -- I'm not good at remembering names of things.

They screwed up and displayed the voting numbers incorrectly, so they have to rebroadcast the show and let everyone vote again, tonight. So, just in case you missed any of those over the top, super duper performances, you can see them again even if you don't have Tivo. Argh.

Thanks Green Witch . . . but I had to look at the idolonfox webpage to make sure that I used their correct names. I didn't know how to spell "Mikalah." LOL

But, I do enjoy some "reality" television shows because they reveal so much about human behavior and motivations. These shows expose the layers of humanity. It's AMAZING what people will do and say under stressful situations and/or to win money . . .

I think "Boston Rob" and Amber are an extremely entertaining (and compatible) couple and are managing an excellent race on the Amazing Race. Boston Rob has a natural charm (like a snake-oil salesman, LOL). He's a KNOWN LIAR . . . and everyone KNOWS that everything he does and says is for a self-serving purpose . . . but he STILL manages to charm and manipulate almost everyone who can possibly help him to win the MILLION.

I especially like BIG BROTHER. Looking forward to this summer's presentation! People are entertaining!

On American Idol, I'm very impressed with the young talent. I wish all of them could win . . . .

Okay, I just wasted an hour of my life watching that show, and the one that I think should be voted off is that insipid twit, Paula Abdul. God, what a no-talent idiot.

Laughing One has to wonder how someone who sings through her nose manages to be a judge in a singing contest.

HATE: Constantine, Anthony Fedorov, and Mikalah (but she's damn hot).

LOVE: Bo Bice.

Everyone else, I'm pretty impartial.

Oh, and would someone tell Randy to just shut up with the "Yo Dog! You did your thing! I was feelin' you!" already??? Paula's just as bad - that is, not worth listening to.

I'm so happy that the Fran Drescer wanna-be got kicked off. She couldn't sing, for one, and for two, my almost 30 year old boyfriend thought she was damn hot. Should I be worried about pedophilia? Rolling Eyes

My 40 something man also thinks Mikalah is a little hottie and I'm not worried at all. He thinks Carrie is a babe and has (teasingly) threatened to run off with her. I play along. "Sure honey. If that's what you want, give her a call and see if she'll have you." ROFL
