I've seen nothing at all from Edgar that supports this claim about him. Do you have some quote that backs up your claim?

Lash's game is unique. It is, always, attacks on the Dem party and encouragement for anyone/everyone to not vote for Dems. That's it.

Ed is not that different: now that Sanders has folded in favor of Biden, both Ed and Lash have stopped listening to him altogether. They pick and chose in Sanders, short-selling the coherence of his approach. That’s what I call fair-weather bernites. They just used him for a while, and then disposed of him.

Ed posts less than Lash, though, which makes him better I guess.

@Olivier5,
Olivier5 wrote:

That’s unverifiable. We will never know if Sanders could have won against Trump, for instance, or what he could have done or not if elected. It’s a moot point.

The important, verifiable point is that he shaped the discourse on the left through his two campaigns. He did that very effectively, against hell and high water, and I am grateful for that. He fought well and he keeps up the fight. But as he reminded us again and again during the campaign, it’s not about him. It’s about us.

I agree, it is totally unverifiable.

But it is my opinion...and that is what we mostly share here.

The policies for which he advocates are still closer to what I want...but there is no way I would want him to be the candidate. I would vote for him in a heartbeat, but it is my opinion he would be the Barry Goldwater for this side of the political spectrum. Probably more so.

Anyone who has interacted here with both Edgar and Lash knows the difference between them to be much more profound than just frequency of posts. There is a bitterness and vindictiveness in one that is not apparent in the other. One engages in very personal attacks with a gusto that suggests it’s like sport to her. The other is much more likely to simply stop talking to you than battle to the dregs for the last word. It’s just my opinion, but I think there’s a baseline of respect for people and life in Edgar, and the only thing I think the other reveres is being right.

@Frank Apisa,
What can I say? You're entitled to your opinion. Even if you are right, he did shape the narrative, which was quite a feat already. Moses didn't reach the promissed land either but he set a people in motion.

@Olivier5,
It seems weird that you put so much of your personal time and energy trying to figure out other people you don’t know.

I don’t spend any time at all thinking about you.

Isn’t it weird to you to be so focused on the personal lives of people you don’t know? Seems creepy to me.

@Olivier5,
Bullshit. If you only referred to my posts, you wouldn’t be making weird guesses about what I think or how I ‘feel’ about Bernie Sanders, or any of your other weird guesses about why I say what I say.

That’s ******* weird.

Setanta used to do that to you. Your French was suspect to him so he made weird guesses about who you really were. It was creepy and odd when he did it and it’s weird when you do it. You think about me too much.

@Lash,
You're straying from Sanders' lead in that you won't vote for Biden, whom Sanders supports. You admitted as much. That makes of you a fair-weather Bernite. And that's only the most generous interpretation.

Olivier, is this 'hitting a little harder' than Obama did in your view?

So in other words, Biden wants to violate people's civil liberties, and for no reason other than his own sadistic pleasure.

I've heard you make this accusation many times before but you never provide any evidence that anyone is doing this "for pleasure" — sadistic or otherwise. I believe this diminishes the strength of your argument. Violation of civil liberties is a serious enough charge; you needn't add any unsubstantiated embellishments.

I'll point out that I would dispute the "violation of civil liberties" charge as well but that discussion really belongs in a thread about firearms.

Good speech by Sen. Sanders but, disappointingly, no one was castrated and no asses were kicked. It's just the usual tongue-lashing. Socialists have made insightful attacks on our political system for years, but I was really hoping to see Sanders using an elastrator on Mitch McConnell and kicking Rand Paul hard in the posterior.

The evidence that the only motivation is sadistic pleasure is the fact that no one can come up with any other plausible motivation.

Progressives don't have any real reason for violating people's civil liberties. Yet they still try to do so.

Restrictions on a fundamental right are allowed only if the restriction can be justified as serving a compelling government interest.
