@layman,
That aside, it's NOT a question of the "number" of cases increasing or decreasing to begin with. It's a question of the RATE of increase.

The number of cases can NEVER decrease. On the other hand, if you had ONE new case per decade, the "number" of cases would increase ad infinitum.

You don't seem to understand math so good, eh?

@blatham,
I wonder what she was waiting on? Do you think Obama talked to her? From an article I read on the NYT, Obama had been behind the scenes about the primary end-game.

‘Accelerate the Endgame’: Obama’s Role in Wrapping Up the Primary

I almost didn't want to post the link cause I thought it might be too provoking for Sanders supporters.

@revelette3,
I don’t think it’s all that inflammatory (except of course to those who chafe easily). The piece you linked clearly states that Obama’s efforts to convince Bernie to leave didn’t begin until the weeks after it became all but decided that Biden was the nominee.

Obama’s effort to get Bernie to concede was constructive, not destructive.

@snood,
Well, we've been having a relatively a good few days I didn't want to start anything.

But I agree on how the classy constructive way he did it, I just thought writing an article about it, might be rubbing sore noses a little.

Even the fake-ass NYT aint tryin to blame Trump, as you would like to imply. They talking about the actions of local officials:

The point here is not to cast blame on mayors or governors for the timing of what were difficult decisions for both public health and the economy, but rather, to alert cities and states where full social distancing measures are not in place that hesitation can come at a very high cost.

They certainly don't bring up DeBlassio's encouragement for NYers to party like it was 1928 after the outbreak.

@revelette3,
I can’t worry about the kind of people who would take offense at what Obama did, at how he did it, at the NYT for reporting it, or at you for posting a link to it.

What he did - wait through the entire primary process until there was one person all but certain to be the nominee, strongly endorse that person and try to persuade someone to unite, not divide - was good and constructive and smart.

Some people’s feathers stay ruffled.

You can’t cushion the blow or parse the discussion enough to unruffle them.

Leading progressives discussing recent events.
Bernie excoriated for disrespecting his former press secretary (and a million like-minded former voters) and other campaign failures.
Sad goodbye for the movement Round 1; gearing up for Round 2--Green Party join-up.

A few of many reasons Bernie voters can't be counted upon to fall in line with Biden.

Some of the people who were involved in the murder of Malcolm X were former strong believers in him and what he stood for. They turned on him and began to despise and plot against him because he had started to try to work with more “moderate” (for lack of a more suitable word) black leaders like MLK , and had even begun to see the possibility of working with whites he had formerly regarded as the devil incarnate.

(Something about the reaction of some of Bernie’s supporters to Bernie’s efforts to reconcile and work with Biden reminded me of that. Not sure exactly what...)

@Lash,
Democrat Ocasio-Cortez plans to back Biden
Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of Congress’s leading progressives, told Politico on Wednesday she wanted to see former Vice President Joe Biden refine his stances on issues including healthcare and immigration before endorsing him.

Ocasio-Cortez, who had earlier backed fellow progressive U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ bid for the Democratic nomination, said she expected to ultimately support Biden’s bid to unseat Republican President Donald Trump.
