That aint what I hear, eh, Walt?:

In recent weeks, EU member states have closed their borders, banned exports of critical supplies and withheld humanitarian aid... Germany, the largest and most powerful country in the European Union, introduced controls on its borders with Austria, Denmark, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland. The move came after Germany registered 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 in just one day.

@layman,
Perhaps you've missed that we've got the corona virus here?

EU leaders had agreed to restrict most travel into Europe for at least 30 days in an unprecedented move (Tuesday, March 17).

Regarding the internal borders: all Schengen Area Member States have approved the European Commission’s proposal, Member States can reintroduce border controls at internal borders for reasons of public policy or internal security.

No, I didn't miss that. In fact, that was the whole point, remember? You said Germany had a whole 300 foreigners in their hospitals with the Kung Flu. The question was how and why. You were claiming the EU members in German hospitals couldn't have busted in without permission.

Good grief. Of course it wasn't a real poll. He was making a joke.

But what's this "usual" nonsense? Can you provide any examples of him being wrong when he is making a serious factual claim?

According to the Darwinian theorists, we live in a strictly dog-eat-dog world, ya know? Viruses try to kill us, and we try to kill them, etc.

But this survival of the fittest conflict does, they say, ultimately serve a higher purpose. It weeds out the weaklings and thereby improves the entire species, because the defective ones then can't reproduce.

85% of viable humans don't need any medication, ventilators, vaccines, or anything else; their natural immune system is sufficient to kill the virus dead. Tough luck for them who aint got what it takes to win the battle. In a war for survival, there are inevitably some casualties.

There's a little herd-thinning goin down 24/7, eh? What else is new?

@Brand X,
Can you imagine an entire ant colony quitting work, and letting the queen and everyone else just curl up and die, because they were afraid they might encounter an enemy if they were seen working?

I can't. But, per Darwin, any such colony should be eliminated, for the good of ants everywhere.

When an ant dies, they don't bury it. They eat it. This gives them additional energy to forage for more food. It's a win-win proposition, caincha see?

A cheese-eater wouldn't dare recommend that people go back to work if he thought there was one chance in a thousand that some people might die as a result of his recommendation. He wouldn't have the guts, or the sense.

But Trump, he aint no cheese-eater.

Trump invokes Defense Production Act to force GM to make ventilators

President Trump said Friday that he had directed Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to require General Motors to begin making ventilators under the Defense Production Act to combat the coronavirus pandemic after negotiations with the automaker had stalled.

Trump said that while the White House activated the act against GM, it may not be needed. “Maybe we won’t even need the full activation. We’ll find out,” Trump said Friday in the Oval office.

“As usual with ‘this’ General Motors, things just never seem to work out. They said they were going to give us 40,000 much needed Ventilators, ‘very quickly’. Now they are saying it will only be 6000, in late April, and they want top dollar,” he wrote.

"Our negotiations with GM regarding its ability to supply ventilators have been productive, but our fight against the virus is too great to allow the give-and-take of the contracting process to continue to run its normal course," Trump said in a statement, adding: "GM was wasting time."

Who does Trump think he is!? This is something a dictator like Hitler would do.

Aint that right, cheese-eaters?

Rally? Have you looked at his inordinate delight in McDonald's cheeseburgers?
Conservatives don't care how many people die as long as their billionaire buddies can sock away another few thousand bucks because they pushed starting the economy too soon and deaths spiked because it was done while coved 19 was going to resurge if people stopped doing the things that kept them safe. conservatives love money but hat living americans.

What was happening when you were VP, Joey-boy?

Quote:
Obama admin repeatedly sought millions in CDC funding cuts

The Obama administration repeatedly sought to cut hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), yearly budget requests show -- seemingly undercutting former Vice President Joe Biden's repeated attacks on the Trump White House for its pandemic preparedness.

Numerous Democrats, including Biden, have falsely claimed that Trump slashed the CDC budget, and Biden has suggested that he would never pursue similar cuts.

The Associated Press has noted that those claims "distort" the facts, with FactCheck.org pointing out that CDC funding has actually increased under the current administration, largely because Congress insisted on maintaining funding levels for both CDC and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

“The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) takes a hit of about $270 million in the Obama administration's proposed fiscal year 2014 budget, including significant cuts to biodefense and emergency preparedness programs," according to a 2013 post from the Center For Infectious Disease Research And Policy.

Then, in 2015, President Obama called for $50 million in budget cuts amid a measles outbreak -- and White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest's claims that ObamaCare would pick up the slack were rated false by The Washington Post's fact-checker.

“Chipping away at 317 funds jeopardizes the immunization system in general, public-health officials and advocates say. It restricts the ability of local public health departments to prepare for and respond to outbreaks and educate providers," Chris Aldridge, senior director for infectious disease at the National Association of County and City Health Officials, told The Washington Post in 2015.

Nice try, Joey.

I guess you really can't hold the poor boy accountable. He has no idea if what he's saying is true or false. He has no idea of what he's saying, period.

US was more prepared for pandemic than any other country, Johns Hopkins study found

The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic in late 2019 by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHCHS) -- an assessment seemingly at odds with claims by Democrats that the Trump administration left the country vulnerable to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The Global Health Security Index was was "developed with guidance from an international panel of experts from 13 countries, with research by the Economist Intelligence Unit" from 2018 to 2019, The Washington Post reported last year. "More than 100 researchers spent a year collecting and validating publicly available data.”
