Reporters know Schiff proved his case. They know Trump is guilty. If Republicans acquit him anyhow, it indicts the whole party. It's hard for journalists to process doing unbiased reporting in a world where an entire party is guilty of a crime.

This needs to be properly appreciated. Journalists and their superiors are in a place now they've never been before and they just do not know how to proceed.

@blatham,
People are only guilty when there is some sort of wrongdoing.

What Mr. Trump is being accused of doing is not wrongdoing in any way.

It's like saying that you are "guilty" of posting messages on a2k.

Sure, there is plenty of evidence that you are posting messages on a2k, but that doesn't change the reality that posting messages on a2k is not a crime to begin with.

In a place where they can lie to favor one party, and they are. Remember these people have not been elected to anything. And that crap about Schiff proving his case is a joke.

So you have some blowhole accusing a whole party of a made up crime. Really, how dumb are people that give any credence to crap like this?

Bernie Opens Up Major Can Of Whoop Ass In Iowa

Excerpt:
Sen. Bernie Sanders has opened a massive lead in Iowa, according to a new New York Times/Siena College poll.

The new numbers show 25 percent of Hawkeye State voters now say they support the Vermont socialist, with his nearest rival, former South Bend, Ind. mayor Pete Buttigieg at 18 percent. Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren — who have both at times led in Iowa polls — slipped to 17 and 15 percent, respectively.

The poll was taken between Jan. 20-23 and has a margin of error of 4.8 percent. The Iowa caucuses, the first test in the Democratic presidential race, are Feb. 3.

The Sanders surge comes even as the senator himself remains bottled up in the US capitol serving as a juror in President Trump’s impeachment trial. He is expected to fly back to Iowa (on a private jet) Saturday evening for a rally in Ames with New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

@Lash,
Being in the lead in Iowa is not critical though. Being in the top three is. People do not become president without being in the top three in Iowa and top two in New Hampshire.

Iowa's significance to Mr. Sanders is that it will probably knock Warren out of the running.

What's surprising me is New Hampshire. They might actually knock out Biden and narrow it down to "Sanders versus Buttigieg".

If it is "Sanders verses Biden" then I think Biden is the likely nominee. But if it is "Sanders versus Buttigieg" then I think Sanders has a real chance of winning the nomination.

Bernie Sanders' overflow crowds in Iowa are bigger than the main audience for most candidates.

This is the level of excitement we need to beat Trump in the general and carry down ticket Democrats to victory.

Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man. He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!

And let's note that what Trump is doing here is just what Republicans pretended to be outraged concerning when Schiff quoted the CBS report re "heads on pikes".

No lying whatsoever; he quoted Trump directly. Trump was making a veiled threat that there would be a price to pay, and addressing a duly elected congressman in a dismissive manner.

"Nice little pizza shop you have here, Four Eyes — it'd be a shame if something happened to it..."

You and I are usually in agreement; there's nothing bad about being compared to a Mafia boss — it's a compliment, why do you react so defensively?

I think it is more like a promise. Schiff is the one calling it a threat. Notice how he(Schiff) is reading minds again.

From the Daily Beast, so it is biased garbage supporting the biggest liar in Congress.

No, a veiled threat is a lot more intimidating than an empty promise. Any Mafioso knows that.

I didn't see any indications of "bias". They quote the various people involved in the story and it's all handled pretty objectively. Maybe you can point to the part you think is "biased garbage".

Exactly. If I'd wanted to slander the guy as an amoral, sociopathic tyrant, I'd have compared him to the God of the Old Testament.

Nonsense. There will indeed be political consequences for all the actors involved in this sorry effort at impeachment - a natural outcome of the results achieved and the effect they will likely have on Democrats in the coming election. Pelosi, Nadler and Schiff will, as a result of their individual behaviors in this sorry spectacle, be those most adversely affected. Each of them have offended most of the Senate, and as I expect will soon enough become evident, a large fraction of voters.

So far Joe Biden appears to be the one whose political fortunes have been most damaged by the process. Bernie Sanders increasingly appears to be the leading Democrat candidate - probably a result of his much greater authenticity, compared to the candidates opposing him. Barring some last minute chicanery from within the DNC (perhaps in collusion with Mike Bloomberg) Sanders may well win the nomination.

The already strong likelihood of a Trump win in the next election is now much improved.

@georgeob1,
georgeob, since you apparently agree with the president, can you explain how he's a "CORRUPT POLITICIAN"? He seems to be pretty competent at laying out a case, even when potential evidence has been withheld from him, which would indicate that he's well aware of the law and the consequences of breaking it. Do you guys have some knowledge about payoffs he's received or shakedowns he's been involved in? Because a charge like political corruption implies actual wrongdoing; being a member of the opposition party is not an indication of dishonest behavior. And I'd be interested in the diagnosis of "sickness" and why you guys suspect either a physical or mental disorder. I haven't detected any signs of illness, his colleagues don't shun him, so I'm wondering what it is that you're seeing here that I'm missing. Maybe the alleged "thin neck" led to a misdiagnosis?

And finally, what has he "done to our Country"? Why is standing up for our diplomatic corps considered destructive? Why is investigating possible presidential abuse of power so upsetting to you guys? And, while I haven't heard you comment on this, why are Republicans so put out by the CBS report? If it wasn't true it's CBS that's at fault. Even Schiff added that he hoped it wasn't true. Given everything that's unfolded in this investigation the CBS report seems pretty believable, especially after hearing the president fuming over Marie Yovanovitch and ordering her to be "taken out". The man demands loyalty and he likes to issue threats. Why not defend his right to discipline the members of his party instead of jumping ship and acting as if there's no way he'd ever say such a thing — especially when he says similar things all the time?
