I don't see a difference in what you said and what I said. The Jewish leadership wanted him dead, they let the Romans do it so they wouldn't be blamed for it at the time. Later Christians did indeed blame the Jews, because that's what Biblical history says is the case. What we know about actual history says the Romans were indeed running that part of the world at the time, so whether the actual events ever happened, the story is based on the historical timeline.
My own personal opinion and things I've seen from more modern day Christians, evangelicals specifically, they aren't angry at the Jews any longer and are one of their strongest allies here in the US. I can tell you for a fact that the Dems are not friends of Israel and their existence. It's the US right who support the home of the Jews. Ever heard of the Black Hebrew Israelites? Who do you think shot up that deli in New Jersy and attacked the Rabbi's house in December?
