@edgarblythe,
Ouch! Coming from you that hurts so much
I don't think you or Infrablue understand the concept of
predicated
Israel's founding was not based on the oppression of anyone except perhaps themselves.
Whether or not Israel "oppresses" the Palestinian People(s) it was not and is not predicated upon such behavior.
Claiming it is, is simply a poorly disguised attempt to legitimize the denial of the right of Jews to a Jewish State.
Presumably, you both find Egypt repugnant and illegitimate since it is a Muslim State in which Coptic Christians and what few Jews may be lurking about are oppressed. (And of course, there are many other examples)
I could be wrong, but I believe you both favor reparations for African-Americans - If I am wrong, ignore what follows - The concept of reparations for African-Americans is that they are deserving of compensation because of oppression (slavery) none of them have directly experienced from a larger group who never directly engaged in the oppression.
Putting aside whether or not this makes sense if you support it then you should support the concept of a Jewish State.
Once you accept the concept of a Jewish State, if you wish to be intellectually consistent and honest you have to admit that it is the goal of the Palestinians to put an end to it...either by violence or demographics. Now you can say that the average Palestinian doesn't share that goal (you would be disingenuous, but you could say it) but it would really strain credulity for you to contend the Palestinian Governing Bodies (such as they are) do not.
You can't have it both ways.
You can't argue that your being against the Israeli government doesn't mean you are against Israelis and then contend that those who are against the Palestinian governing bodies are ipso facto against Palestinians.
You will...but you shouldn't, regardless of what truck you fell off of this morning.
