@oralloy,
If you invent your own definitions for words, this isn’t going to go anywhere... we need a common language, a common currency of exchange, otherwise no discussion is possible.

For example?

Surely you can find at least one, given that you felt you had justification to make the charge.

Civil people dont make charges when they clearly have no clue...something that I am sure that you once knew.

Did you forget?

I've heard the likes of you before. In fact I've read the entire oeuvre of Louis-Ferdinand Céline. You would like it if you could read it. I remember that in 1945 while in Sigmaringen, he bemoaned the fall of Western Civilisation quite a lot, in between two allied bombings. Already back then he predicted hordes of Chinese and other méthèques would invade Europe.

@hawkeye10,
Oral said that the city of Flint was "bankrupt" when the state government took over, which was not the case. When called upon it he said something about the "colloquial use" of the term, or something like that. Sounds like lazy to me.

@Olivier5,
Using the English language as it was intended to be used is hardly lazy.

In addition to pointing out the fact that the word has an established definition in the English language, I also questioned your claim that Flint did not meet the legal definition of bankruptcy.

I invented no definitions.

Bankrupt:

1. a person legally declared unable to pay his or her debts: the property of a bankrupt is administered for the benefit of his or her creditors and divided among them

2. anyone unable to pay his or her debts

I thought that advancing age meant advancing intelligence. But one person on this site was dumb as a rock when he left. Now that he has returned he has become dumber than a rock. But he is as belligerent as ever.

I am right a high percentage of the time so you really should attempt to pay attention, and I am almost certainly not back.....I am almost completely done with social media because of the low quality, and this place is a shell of what it used to be, just as I claimed would be its future after colossal mistakes were made by ownership.

As my years accumulate and as my health declines it is increasingly all about me.

@oralloy,
At the time of the takeover, Flint city wasn't "unable to pay its debts."

Dude! You came here crying "we are corrupt!" I only agreed with you, that you are indeed corrupt. Is agreeing with you uncivil now?

How was it going to pay them? Was the magic money fairy going to come and give them a gift?

"Snyder is reviewing candidates for the job after Flint's elected leaders said they won't fight a review panel's recommendation that the state take over the city's finances.

A state review team said Flint is in a financial emergency. The city's deficit as of June 2010 was $14.6 million, an increase of 45 percent from the previous year, and the city's pooled cash has declined over the past five years."

So do you now agree that this Moore character was not being truthful when he said that the takeover was an evil Republican plot to pay for tax cuts for the rich??

@Olivier5,
It is exactly what he said. Here is a cut-n-paste from the Moore article that you originally linked:

Then he invoked an executive privilege to take over cities (all of them majority black) by firing the mayors and city councils whom the local people had elected, and installing his cronies to act as "dictators" over these cities. Their mission? Cut services to save money so he could give the rich even more breaks. That's where the idea of switching Flint to river water came from. To save $15 million! It was easy. Suspend democracy. Cut taxes for the rich. Make the poor drink toxic river water. And everybody's happy.

I couldn't find this phrase in the quote you provided. Rather than putting words into Moore's mouth, why don't you offer some effective refutations of the points? Paying for tax cuts by cutting services is a well-known method of municipal budget balancing. I note your incapacity to point out anything he says that's factually incorrect.
