@revelette1,
I think they worked this out sanely and ethically. These aren't simple black/white issues as is almost always the case in a nation of 300 million people with diverse ideas and values. And it doesn't get simpler when one adds in the rest of the world. I read Walt and Mearsheimer's paper on the AIPAC lobby when it was published more than a decade ago. It very definitely changed my understanding of US/Israeli relationships. And a central reason I came to despise recent Israeli politics and policies is because of their treatment of Palestinians. And on the other hand, I am totally awed by what Jewish culture has given the rest of us.

@blatham,
Pelosi holds the power as you and we ably see. Some risk their positions to oppose her draconian edicts.

Omar does as well.

AOC has been sadly complicit in condemning her freshman friend.

You look, but you do not see.

@Lash,
You'll have to pardon me for not expressing my admiration at how you have come to understand Omar and AOC better than they understand themselves.

Edit: and we ought to note that this is the second time you've implied that AOC is corrupted. Any other progressives you want to badmouth today?

@blatham,
Your interpretation of events is predicated on the premise that all congress members only vote based on their desires.

Are you crazy???

I don’t want to laugh at you right away.

Think first.

Lash as progressive is such a pathetic charade. Lash as life-long conservative and attacker of Democrats is all too familiar.

The Democrats' endorsement of antisemitism is shameful.

What is it about the idea of "Jews defending themselves" that bothers you the most?

No. The final resolution's wording referenced both anti-Semitic behavior/words and anti-Islamic behavior/words.

Omar voted for the censure.

Now, you can claim that Omar is such a weak, oportunistic sludgebrain that she signed on without sincerity/honesty if you wish but you're going to look rather silly in that.

It was nevertheless crafted from a will to shut up voices contradicting the narrative of Israel the just and fearless, despite their atrocities. Eff 'em.

They caved to the intimidation of the far Left which is an obviously anti-Jew, anti-Israel contingent allied with Islam. Voters matter more than ethics. Illegals matter more than citizens.

@edgarblythe,
Perhaps, but I am not sure it will work. Omar opened the door. In any case, I am just glad it ended up not being a scold to Omar. I am also glad there wasn't a big blow up today within the left/democrats over it. Getting rhetoric in there about anti-Islam was a win for the left and for the Dems and Muslims as well as the language concerning anti-Semitism.

To the left, Jews commit an atrocity just by existing.

The left is a really horrible and malign influence on humanity.

The left is a blight on the fabric of the universe.

Of course it was. We wouldn't be talking about AIPAC if it wasn't influential.

But what do you imagine is the remedy for this situation? Omar was right to point to AIPAC's influence but it has been pointed at far more loudly and thoroughly before. How do you imagine this being actually fixed or significantly reduced? If you think putting one particular individual into the WH will do the trick? That would be mad. Do you imagine that any Dem in the WH if it is not Sanders would have the same consequences for Palestinians as would be the case with the Republicans in the WH again? That would be even madder.

@blatham,
That's an interesting tidbit. Does this Sanders character intend to try to help the Palestinians destroy Israel?

If so, this should be explored in more detail before the election.

Edit: the point, if not clear, is that Feinstein, who is commonly derogated as part of the Dem elite or establishment, had taken the same position as Sanders. He isn't alone. And how many Republican politicos do you think you could find who would join Sanders and Feinstein?
