Since when is it inflammatory to call a politician anything or accuse them of anything? This is identity politics a Left wing brainstorm.

What bullshit is that?

Someone starting at age 25, making $50,000/year (say being a teacher) who saves 10% in their 401k and gets even a 7% return (S&P the last 30 years had a 12% return) will have 1 million dollars in their 401k by age 65. A 12% return would have them be a millionaire at age 53.

That’s not bullshit, that’s just basic math. If they get raises or company matching 401k dollars then they’ll be a millionaire much much sooner. Teachers would even have pensions. If you get married you can often make multiple millions as a family.

This isn’t possible for everyone for a great number of reasons, but it CERTAINLY is possible for many people.

This reasoning explains a lot about myporsche’s completely cruel, unrealistic beliefs about people’s financial possibilities and life situations.

I have NEVER known a teacher with a financial worth approaching half a million without inheritance as the primary factor.

Ridiculous.

@blatham,
Yeah that post was crap. I was referring to contributions you might find on LinkedIn about how not to be a shitty manager. Hickenlooper's comments are extremely basic, and a pitiful miscalculation

*ahem* Actually, I know teachers who have to get second and third jobs because they can’t afford to live, pay rent, buy groceries, pay for teaching materials their school refuses to buy —and they do this because they love their students and are so devoted to their futures. We actually use our own money to buy books and binders for poor students who rely almost completely on the passion of those teachers who are dedicated to them, who passionately desire to be a solution for those desperate for a better outcome.

Myporsche’s mindless fact-free slam against working teachers everywhere would be slapped down by every damn teacher in this country—even the lucky ones whose husbands or wives bring in the bacon while they —thank god for them—devote their lives to poverty, loving those deemed unlovable by our larger society.

Millionaires. Yeah. Teacher millionaires.

How isolated from reality can a person be?

Teachers sell blood to make ends meet.

Maybe a math teacher could check where my math is off.

Assuming the following:

1) any occupation with a salary of $50,000 (teacher, police, office worker, etc)
2) employee saves 10% of their income
3) starting at age 25
4) making a low 7% rate of return (historical is 12%)
5) will have over $1,000,000 at retirement after 40 years
6) TRUE or FALSE

If you make more money, you’ll get there faster.
If you get an employee match, you’ll get there faster.
If you have a pension, you’ll get there faster.
If you buy a home and pay it off, you’ll get there faster.
If you get married, you’ll probably get there faster.

Can anyone argue the math? Any math teachers out there?

@coldjoint,
Yeah. Having families. Too expensive.

We should go back to better days when schoolmarms were obligated to remain single as long as they were teachers, dress modestly, live with the village parson and his wife, and not be seen too often in town.

Who do teachers think they are, trying to live a life like normal people.

We are getting stupid with some stuff. There's no way I can charge Jordan with anti-Semitism in using $ to replace the S in Steyer. I think there is almost no possibility that he'd publicly post it if he had thought about the historical precedents. Far more likely he was just pushing the recent narrative that Steyer is controlling the Dems with his deep pockets.

Is it a "recent narrative" or a fact?

Do you require teachers to marry gainfully employed people?
