@edgarblythe,
Edgar, I'm not sure what your purpose is on showing those people approving the increase in the military budget.

@edgarblythe,
The military isn't a bad thing in and of itself. We dion't live under a pacifist constitution. De-militarization of our country's foreign policy will require de-militarization of our economy. Until we seriously address that issue, routine budget appropriations for the armed forces can be expected.

@hightor,
We have gone past that long ago, by giving all of our money to militarism and the industrial interests. There has to be something left for infrastructure, medical, Social Security and such.

@edgarblythe,
With the huge tax cuts and spending waste, it's a little late complaining about "not enough money for....."

@edgarblythe,
Wait until the major effects of climate change start hitting. There won't be any money left for the military either.

Interesting photo, but at the current rate of 0.125 inches per year. it will take a very long time to materialize.

@QueenInYeIIow

In August of 2018, Elizabeth Warren was asked if she would be willing to:
1) slash the military budget
2) co-sponsor Congresswoman Betty McCullum's bill promoting Palestinian children's rights (https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4391 …)

Warren completely dodges answering both questions.

All our girls, making waves.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-01-14/how-ocasio-cortez-and-new-liberal-women-are-changing-their-party

A quartet of young Democratic women, new to Congress and unafraid to push boundaries, is making an audacious attempt to set their party’s agenda and shape the 2020 presidential campaign.

New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has floated tax rates as high as 70 percent on top incomes to fund a "Green New Deal" and end fossil fuels. Boston’s Ayanna Pressley wants to clear the way for passing legislation without regard for its impact on the deficit. Minnesota’s Ilhan Omar secured a House rule change that let her wear a religious head scarf in the chamber. Michigan’s Rashida Tlaib drew rebukes for a profanity-laced call to impeach President Donald Trump.

"Everything we do has some element of transforming the conversation," Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview. "We’re the party of the New Deal and that’s the kind of Democrat that I am, and so I’m of course going to be advocating for those viewpoints."

The media is spinning its level best to cast aspersions on the change over from the original GoFundMe page of Brian Kolfage’s Build the Wall campaign in a desperate effort to destroy Kolfage’s credibility.

Kolfage started the page without expecting such an amazing outpouring of support. But his initial plan was not well organized, to be sure. So, because things were mounting so quickly, he thought it would be prudent to set up a more serious organization aimed at actually building the wall.

Instead of just dumping the money raised into the hands of the federal government,Kolfage started a 501c4 non-profit named WeBuildTheWall.us.

If I remember right someone commented on this. It looks like he was misinformed, and it is getting bigger.

I said this last November.
The DNC is going to load up the field with so many candidates, that no one can outright win the nomination in the 1st round & then in comes the SUPER DELEGATES in the 2nd round and "selects" the ESTABLISHMENT CANDIDATE.

Only progressives care. You don’t belong here. Go have fun on the Wall Street thread. Maybe the I Love Overpaying for Healthcare thread. You’re out of place here.

@edgarblythe,
I'd like to see if any of these votes can be directly correlated with military spending in particular districts. Even the most progressive legislators will work to secure funding for industries or preserve a military base located in their state.

@georgeob1,
The rate is higher in certain areas, georgeob1. Here's a study done by the state of Maryland.

Quote:
The likely range (66% probability) of the relative rise of mean sea level expected in Maryland between 2000 and 2050 is 0.8 to 1.6 feet, with about a one-in-twenty chance it could exceed 2.0 feet and about a one-in-
one hundred chance it could exceed 2.3 feet.

I don't know where you got your number but it might be a worldwide average.
