It's not irrelevant that the left wants to violate our civil liberties for fun.

Republicans pour on the tax cuts and spending increases, year after year, whenever they have the power to do so, to intentionally inflate the national debt.
Republicans do favor lower taxes. But it is unreasonable to accuse them of inflating the national debt.

Democrats are equally responsible for the debt with their big-spending social programs that can't be paid for with low taxes.

I personally prefer high(ish) taxes and big social programs. But I don't blame Republicans for the cost of those big programs when they pass a tax cut.

Telling people that they aren't allowed to murder police officers is hardly racism.

That's fine while the primaries are being held.

It is proper to say I have reached different conclusions than you. And a person's education does not change the core problems Democratic policies have created and it intends to sustain these disastrous policies.

Racism is your scapegoat for failure.

Pelosi says she will give "nothing for the wall"

Published January 2, 2019
Quote:
House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi is willing to give "nothing for the wall," she said in an interview clip that was tweeted on Wednesday -- the 12th day of the government shutdown and the eve of the Democratic-majority 116th Congress' swearing in.

Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other congressional Democrats have rejected President Donald Trump's calls for $5 billion of funding for a wall on the southern border.

"Are you willing to come up and give him some of this money for the wall?" NBC's Savannah Guthrie asked Pelosi in an interview slated to air in full Thursday.

"No, no. Nothing for the wall," Pelosi replied. "We're talking about border security."

"We can go through this all back and forth -- no," Pelosi added. "How many more times can we say no? Nothing for the wall."

Trump suggested Tuesday that the shutdown would make for a less than ideal start for Pelosi, the likely incoming Speaker of the House.

"Border Security and the Wall 'thing' and Shutdown is not where Nancy Pelosi wanted to start her tenure as Speaker! Let's make a deal?" he tweeted.

Pelosi replied later that day, blaming Trump for the "irresponsible" shutdown.

".@realDonaldTrump has given Democrats a great opportunity to show how we will govern responsibly & quickly pass our plan to end the irresponsible #TrumpShutdown," she tweeted. "Just the first sign of things to come in our new Democratic Majority committed to working #ForThePeople."

If somebody's record and positions are so outside the mainstream of USAmerican politics as to be labeled "revolutionary" they are probably only going to attract a minority of votes, 30% or less. If I think a candidate's platform is singularly unattractive to a majority of the electorate well, yes β€” after coming to that conclusion I will think about whether he or she can beat Trump. That doesn't mean it's the first thing I think of and it sure as hell doesn't mean it's the only thing I think of.

@glitterbag,
Trump's insistence to demand $5+ billion for a useless wall proves how ignorant he really is. He doesn't understand anything about security, the government budget, taxes, or common sense. His base is equally not too bright; supporting an ignoramus who doesn't even understand the US Constitution. https://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2017/apr/28/scott-peters/would-trumps-border-wall-cost-same-one-and-half-us/ The Great Wall of China was built long before the time of Christ. Especially famous is the wall built in 220–206 BC by Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. Trump is no emperor.

Do the voters want her to refuse to compromise on something that she and they have no real objection to, and thereby fail to achieve any of the things that they actually do care about?

So if you could get some major programs passed into law that you really want, you'd rather achieve nothing at all just to spite Trump on an issue that you have no real objection to?

@cicerone imposter,
What if letting Trump have his wall meant that the Democrats could get immigration reform?

Trump is reasonable and likes to make deals. If the Democrats stopped their war against him and actually tried to get along with him, they'd probably like the results.

But if all you really want to do is fight and achieve nothing at all, Trump can certainly oblige you on that score as well.
